Drama Club Registration Opens -
Tuesday, November 8th
at 6:30 am
|
|
We're Having a Ball! A 50's Rock and Roll Cinderella Story is this year's Drama Club production! Registration is for 4th and 5th grade students only and costs $89 per student. Registration will be entirely online and will fill quickly! The registration link will be live on the
Drama Club web page at 6:30 am on November 8th.
As there are only parts for 50 actors, registrations will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis and a waiting list will be assembled in the event there are over 50. Our goal is to create a positive experience for all! While this is a considerable commitment, your child will be able to provide a list of conflicts prior to casting allowing the directors to note availability for rehearsals when casting. Questions? Email

Schoolwide Pet Food Drive - Now through Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016
|
|
Student Council is underway with a team of 25 students who will serve as student council members for the entire first semester. We had over 55 students apply and we're hoping to give each and every one of these kids some leadership opportunities during our 2016-17 school year.
Our first major community service event is a Pet Food Drive benefiting the Seattle Humane Society, 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue.
Our collection of Pet Food is going on now and will run through Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016.
Bring donations to your classrooms.
We want to collect as much dog and cat food as possible. Student Council voted on an Ice Cream Sundae Party for the classroom that donates the most food (based on weight). Student Council members will collect donations, weigh them, and keep track of each classroom's total donations.
Student Council members are currently working on posters to promote this community service project. According to the Seattle Humane Society "they always need wet and dry pet food. Cat food is a slightly higher priority than dog food simply because most donors think of dogs when they think of a shelter."
Please note: Humane Society is
currently NOT accepting donations of Beneful products due to current litigation pending over the safety of these products.

Library News and Reminders
|
|
Help Collect -
We are collecting old cell phones and empty printer cartridges of any size. Our library gets points and cash for these items, so don't forget to collect them at your home or office and drop them off in the library. In past years we have earned anywhere from $500 to $1000, all of which goes to purchasing new books for our library! Thanks so much for helping out.
Parent Reminder
- Please make sure you keep Puesta del Sol Library books separate from the KCLS library. If they are accidentally returned to KCLS it sometimes takes months for the book to make its way back to our library
Overdue books
- Students with overdue or lost books may not continue to check out books until their books are either returned or the lost book is paid for.
Lost books -
It is our District Library policy to give refunds for books that are lost and paid for, then found again, if the book cost is $18 or more. The refunds are issued during the current year only, from September through the end of the school year.
