A Message from the URJ - Making History at the Kotel
On November 2, 2016, for the first time, men and women prayed together and read Torah in the main plaza of the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Forcing ourselves past those who, literally, tried to rip the Torah scrolls from our arms, we brought 14 Torah scrolls to the Kotel, which Women of the Wall proudly used for their prayer in the women's section. Ordained by the Reform movement in Israel at HUC-JIR Jerusalem campus, she is a beloved rabbi, teacher, published author, and leader. She has an MA in Biblical and Gender Studies and is a Doctorate candidate in the field of Feminist Theology. We are thrilled to welcome her to our community.

4-6 kitchen chairs;  2 living room chairs/small upholstered chairs;  10 rugs;  1 desk;  1-2 coffee tables;  1 toy box/storage chest;  2 love seats/small couches.  Please contact  Bridget Samburg  about gently used furniture donations. 

We continue to raise funds for this cause through our members, friends, and families. If you are comfortable inviting your friends from outside the congregation to donate, we welcome it. Donations can be made online or checks can be made out to Temple Israel with "Refugee Resettlement Initiative" in the memo line. Noah Aronson is an energetic and soulful composer/performer whose unique musical style has made its way into communities across North America and in Israel. Noah released his first solo Jewish album in May 2011 and his Left Side of the Page has received wide-spread acclaim for setting to music poetic selections from our new Mishkan Tefilah Prayer Book. With his knowledge and love of Judaism, Noah takes us on a musical and spiritual journey that fills us with a sense of completeness and wholeness.

Congratulations to the  Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center (FJECC) , who recently re-certified the incredible  Nature Explore  outdoor classroom. The Rita and Adam J. Weiner and Family Outdoor Classroom is a unique learning environment that organically instills in our students a true sense of wonder about the world in which we live.

Calling all one to two year olds! Grab your parent and come to Room 105 at Temple Israel for a special 10-week program. Mindy Elins, an award winning early childhood Jewish educator in the Boston area has developed a curriculum to guide our morning and help us to start off our week in a most amazing way. Mindy promises our parents will have a great time in this interactive environment and will be able to sing and dance right along with us - for the rest of the week.  Space is limited.
