Create a New Story after Trauma of Election!
After a personal or collective trauma our psycho-spiritual task is to make meaning out of the trauma. First we need a safe place to  tell the truth in order to transform the trauma into a new future.   This begins as we imagine a new way to be in the world or a new story for ourselves.
Responding to the shock and trauma of the election this week, we invite you to join us at Church for Our Common Home as we create a new story for our human and non-human family in weekly worship,  pot lucks and other programs.  Sexism, xenophobia,  racism, bigotry, and/or prejudice against non-human life forms as "less than"  are all  anger responses that are attempting to project blame onto another  victim of the unjust system. We will not change these irrational and dangerous projections of hate until we invite people to see the larger systems of oppression that put one guy on top  making others in the system "less than."  The elites and those "on top" in hierarchical systems of "power over relationships" are all stories about winners and losers, domination and power over relationships. Sexism, (men on top) xenophobia (Americans on top), racism (white people on top),  earth harmers (humans on top)  all tell the same story and all can be traced to  bad theology. "Tell me your idea of God and I will tell you your politics." (Marcus Borg) Our home church challenges the status quo and is dedicated to developing new kinds of relationships for honoring and healing, "Our Common Home," Mother Earth.
Join us as we gather in small circles of prayer, dream sharing, storytelling and community activism.  We are living a suicide story about dominant over systems and relationships.  Our vision every Sunday is to "create a new story for our time" exploring the teachings of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and other wisdom stories of the world religions that have always had an ancient  counter cultural message about love,  interconnectedness and justice. We are called to "wake up and engage" not "wake up and detach" as Ord and Johnson say in, The Coming Interspiritual Age and we will envision the possibility that our social activism can move us personally and collectively beyond  our unresolved rage and grief. Our country and our world have never needed religious community, practice and vision more than now.
