MMA, ZVMS Gubernatorial Forums to Focus on Health Care
How will the next governor of Minnesota handle the opioid epidemic, long-term health care funding sources for public programs, rising health care costs, and uninsured or underinsured citizens? New Conditions Added to Newborn Screening Program
The Minnesota Department of Health announced that effective Aug. 1, the state's newborn screening program has begun screening for two additional conditions. Read more here.  
Annual Conference Spotlight: Mental Health
In collaboration with the Zumbro Valley Medical Society, the 2017 MMA Annual Conference will focus on improving access to mental health care for Minnesotans through two educational sessions. Read more here
State's Medical Cannabis Program Approaching 1,000 Providers
More than two years into the program, Minnesota is creeping toward the century mark in terms of health care practitioners who are registered and authorized to certify patients for the state's medical cannabis program. Read more here

MEDPAC Reception at Annual Conf. to Feature Prior Auth Authors
Sen. Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) and Rep. Rod Hamilton (R-Mountain Lake) will be the featured guests at a MEDPAC reception at this year's Annual Conference in Rochester. Nelson and Hamilton carried the MMA's medication prior authorization legislation this past session. MEDPAC is the MMA's political action committee. The reception will be 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22 and is for all members who contribute at the Annual Conference, which is the start of the 2018 MEDPAC membership year.
