Special Session Tree Legislation Passed
How did trees do?

Governor Abbott called a 30-day Special Session of the Texas Legislature to deal with 20 issues - one of his issues was concern over local government control of trees on private property.

This week on the last day of the session, House Bill 7 was passed by both the Senate and the House and was signed by Gov. Abbott. It is similar to Senate Bill 744 that was passed in the regular session but was vetoed by the Governor. It will take effect on December 1st of this year.
