Vlosich Claims First Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship

Ron Vlosich has had an illustrious playing career. The PGA Life Member has competed in the U.S. Open, five U.S. Senior Opens, the PGA Championship and two Senior PGA Championships. Here at the section level, Vlosich has won three Colorado PGA Professional Championships consecutively between 1991 and 1993, but he had never won the biggest senior event in the Colorado Section. Tuesday, August 15, Vlosich checked that win off as he claimed the 2017 Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship at Valley Country Club with a nine-under-par 135.

Six Colorado PGA Members to Highlight Teaching and Coaching Workshop 

An incredible list of Colorado PGA Professionals will present during the inaugural Colorado PGA Fall Teaching and Coaching Workshop. The members include past Teachers of the Year, West Chapter Award winners and nationally recognized instructors. Included in the list of presenters are: Luke Brosterhous, PGA, Catamount Ranch and Club; Steve Beach, PGA, Glenmoor Country Club; Nick Clearwater, PGA, GOLFTEC; Don Hurter, PGA, Castle Pines Golf Club; Trent Wearner, PGA, Trent Wearner Golf Academy and Ed Oldham, PGA, The Ranch Country Club.

One Week to Register for Section Championship

Registration is now open for the 2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship set for the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club, September 11-13, 2017.  The event is open to call Class A Members as well as members classified as Life Member Active and Life Member Master Professional Active. The entry fee for the event is $250.  The deadline to register is  August 23, 2017.

There are currently 57 members registered for the event.

PGA Members Free with Paid Team

Registration is now open for the 2017 National Car Rental Las Vegas Pro Am presented by Colorado Golf and Turf! The event will be played Monday-Wednesday, November 11-13, 2017, at the Paiute Golf Resort. Entry into the event includes two nights stay at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, transportation to and from the golf course daily, breakfast prior to each round of the event and more fun games and contests than ever before!

The entry fee is $3,900 per team ($975 per Amateur, $0 per Professional). This event uses 5-person teams -- 4 amateurs and 1 professional.

Justin Thomas Awarded the Wanamaker Trophy

A flood of emotions and memories came crashing to mind as Mike Thomas watched his son Justin hoist the Wanamaker Trophy on the 18th green after winning his first PGA Championship on Sunday.
 
"I just started thinking of my dad - three generations of PGA members," Mike Thomas said. "I mean, that's pretty neat."

United States Completes Team Roster for 28th PGA Cup

The United States will be the hunter in search of a trophy as it sends five veterans and five rookies to face Great Britain & Ireland in the 28th PGA Cup, to be conducted Sept. 15-17, at Foxhills Club & Resort in Ottershaw, Surrey, England.

MSR Cycle Ends June 15, 2018

We are in the last year of MSR Cycle 15A which ends as of June 15, 2018. Currently there are 14,200+/- (23.68%) Members who have not yet recertified. MSR credits must be met for both categories; PGA Required and Total MSR by June 15, 2018. Failure to meet the complete PGA Required and the Total MSR requirements by June 15, 2018, will result in the member being reclassified to Class F as of July 1, 2018. Members classified F on July 1, 2018, will need to earn the deficit credits plus an amount equal to the deficit prior to the end on MSR Cycle 16A to avoid being dropped from the active membership rolls.

Scenic TPC Colorado Golf Course Aims to Bring PGA Tour Play to Northern Colorado

Larry Collins drives on a gravel path, up a sloping hill.The scenery wouldn't cause anyone to whip out their phone and snap a picture in the area surrounded by dirt and construction vehicles.When you crest the hill of the freshly built TPC Colorado Golf Course, you get a stunning view of the mountains and perfectly cut green fairways. The 228-acre course sits just west of U.S. Highway 287 in northwest Berthoud. Upon its opening, the course will be semi-private, allowing members and the public to play the course while it holds up a high standard of operation.

Eaton Wins CWGA Senior Stroke Play for Fifth Time - And Third Time by Double Digits

Kim Eaton now has an even handful of titles when it comes to the CWGA Senior Stroke Play.  The Colorado Golf Hall of Famer dominated the 35th playing of the tournament this week at Mariana Butte Golf Course in Loveland, winning the event for the fifth time - but the first since 2013.  On Tuesday, the margin of victory was 13 shots, giving her three wins by double digits in the tournament. She prevailed by 16 shots in 2012 and by 10 in 2013.

Coloradans Shut Out of Match Play at U.S. Amateur

It isn't easy to beat the odds and make the match-play bracket at the U.S. Amateur.  After all, you have to finish in the top 64 out of a field of 312 in the 36-hole stroke-play portion of the event.  This year, the Colorado contingent fell short of the mark. None of the seven players with strong Centennial State connections extended their stay past Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif. 

Fitzsimons and Park Hill Golf Courses to Close 

The Fitzsimons Golf Course is scheduling its final tee time. The Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority-owned course will close before the end of the year to make way for to-be-determined redevelopment plans, said course manager Doug McNeil, who oversees the property on behalf of the city of Aurora. He said an exact closing date has not been set.

Fitzsimons is at least the second Denver-area golf course expected to close in the near future. The Park Hill Golf Course, which sits on land owned by nonprofit Clayton Early Learning, is also on borrowed time.

Wes Weber, Katelyn Lehigh Claim Titles in 14-18 Junior Series Championships

Wes Weber of Johnstown and Katelyn Lehigh of Loveland scored victories on Sunday in the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado's 14-18 Junior Series Championship at Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club in Windsor. 
Taking the Next Step in Drive, Chip and Putt

Sixteen junior golfers, including Colorado Junior Match Play girls champion Emma Bryant of Aurora, earned spots into Regional Qualifying for the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship by virtue of their performances Saturday in a Sub-Regional at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora.  The top two finishers in each of eight divisions on Saturday punched their tickets to the Regionals, set for Sept. 16 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. From there, the top finisher in each division will make it to the 2018 National Championship, set for April 4 at Augusta National Golf Club, site of the Masters.
