This Week in Sunday School We will look at The Good Samaritan and talk about who our neighbors are and how we can help them. We will get to know each other through games, crafts and something yummy to eat. Join us for fun!
Join us downstairs for Sunday School and spend time with our amazing kids! We are changing our program to make it easier for volunteers. Come down and see the new set up and then sign up to help!! These also give you a chance to welcome new families to our church! You can also help teach our children as a Teacher or Shepherd.

Parents of Preschool and PreK Kids!
The Amazing Miss Tanya is taking a break from teaching our Sprouts class this summer, so we will need parents to help out! We have some great games, activities and lessons planned. The kids are great to work with! Take a look at your schedule and see where you can volunteer. Check out the Spring Sign Up.

Youth Group is Sunday from 6-8. Watch your texts for details! We will be at the McIllece's house.
Middle School Mystery Night is Friday, August 4th.

Bells & Choir Rehearsals
Bells will begin rehearsals on August.23 at 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.

Staff Announcements It is with great pleasure and delight that I introduce you to our two new CUC staff members, Dani Way & Heather Quereau.
Dani Way started her full time position as the Family Ministries & Connections Coordinator on August 15. She will coordinate our ministries to families - children, youth parents
and she will coordinate our group life and visitor follow-up. Dani grew up here at CUC, graduated from Grand Canyon University last Winter, and has been volunteering
with our Middle School and High School Ministry programs over the last several years. You
 Heather Quereau starts her half time position as the Marketing & Engagement Coordinator on August 28th. She will coordinate our marketing and communications strategy and manage our engagement with visitors and members. Heather and her family have been attending CUC for the last year. We are very excited to have Dani and Heather on staff. Be sure to say hello to them when you see them or send them a little note welcoming them to the staff.
Mugging The Network Coffee House is in dire need of coffee mugs. If you are tired of regifting that same mug year after year, bring it (or them) to church this Sunday, where it will be appreciated and loved. See you in Biel Hall.

School Supplies
The Mission Committee would like to thank every person in the congregation that participated in any way in the School Supply Drive. We collected about 10 grocery carts of school supplies for the children that IFCS serves in our area. We filled the list! Special thanks from the whole staff of IFCS to all of you; from individuals buying the supplies, to sorting and delivering them - everyone played an important part!
Homecoming
We are planning to do a big homecoming on Sunday, September 10th, with a "Luau" theme. Tom Rehling is cooking a whole pig! Pastor Steve kicks off the fall with an inspiring vision of the next year here at CUC and we have all kinds of activities for the kids and grandkids. Join us for lunch after the 10:00 a.m. service.
Western Welcome Weekend
CUC will have a booth on Saturday, August 19th. We need volunteers to help welcome people who stop by. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pastor Justin
New Member Class

Handicapped Parking Spaces
Please be considerate of those in need and only park in the spaces designated as "Handicapped" if you have a permit or car tag prominently displayed.
Prayer Shawl. The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first Tuesday of each month in the Parlor. If you like to knit, or if you would like to learn to knit, please feel free to join them at 7:00 p.m. This ministry has been providing comfort to those in need for many years.
Notary Public. Josie Hamlen, one of our office staff, is a Notary Public. If you need this service, call the church office.

JOYS:
Carla Keesecker's treatment (the second half of her first infusion) went much better. She wants to thank everyone for their prayers and cards. Her next infusion is January 31, 2018.
Julie & Mel Roghair would like to announce their joy. Their grandson from Connecticut, Connor, is coming to live with them while he's attending the Colorado Film School and Aurora Community College.
We wish all of our students, teachers and school staff members a successful and fun school year.
CONCERNS:
Please pray for Pat Smatla who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and has started chemotherapy.
Please pray for Judith Wright, who was readmitted to Lifecare Center on Mineral and is in Room 625.
Please pray for Yetta Halderman who recently lost her brother-in-law.
Please pray for the entire family of Tom and Marni Wetzel in the sudden loss of their grandson Teddy.
Please pray for Judi Buehrer upon the death of her husband, Wayne, and her upcoming cancer treatments.
Judi starts chemotherapy on August 17th.
Please pray for Jack Gibson who is suffering from congestive heart failure while on vacation in Connecticut. He is back in Denver to see his cardiologist.
Please pray for Cherie LaBelle, a friend and co-worker of Kathy Ireland. She is battling Plasm Cell Leukemia and is about to have a transplant as her next treatment.
Although the immediate crisis may be over, we ask that you keep the following people in your prayers: Bill and Barb McElroy, Bev Knotwell, Carla Keesecker, Melody Maxwell,
Roger Ponds, Katie Gaertner, Dan Simmons, Bob and Lisa Call, Tom Moore, Ruth and Don Teason, and Jeff and Linda Veres.
There are other unnamed members and friends of CUC who have requested prayers as they deal with unemployment, financial challenges, significant concerns, addiction and anger management.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in the military and those who serve our country around the world.
