Sing in Summer Choir on Rally Day!

Summer Choir Singers are any singers who wish to sing in the choir on any chosen Summer Sunday morning. They are welcome to come to the Chancel promptly at 10:00 a.m. and rehearse that morning’s anthem. Summer singers wear no robes, sing the Anthem, then join family and/or friends in the congregation for the remainder of the service.  All singers are welcome!

This Sunday, the choir sings a beautiful work by Jane Marshall, "Bless the Lord, My Soul." Text is from Psalm 103.

Mid-Year Report on UPC Finances

Summary: Good news! UPC is meeting the balanced budget projections that we established at the beginning of the year. Year-to-date expenses are as planned. Income is coming in earlier than expected, with year-to-date income currently $50,000 ahead of our projections. We currently expect to end the year without a deficit. The most significant risk is that our plan depends upon the usual pattern of significant pledge income being received in December before the end of the fiscal year.

New Underwear Collection
for Street Youth Ministry
For the next few Sundays, the Service Committee will be collecting packs of new underwear (men's and women's in any sizes) to donate to the young men and women of the Street Youth Ministry. These young people are outside in the heat all day and do not have access to places to do laundry, so having a supply of clean undergarments is essential in these hot summer months. If you are able to bring in some new underwear in a plastic bag to donate, it will be collected during the offering in the shopping cart that gets pushed down the center aisle. Thank you!
UPLift Needs Next Week
Every Tuesday morning, UPC volunteers provide some food and coffee, hygiene items, and occasional financial assistance for our clients. While all donations are welcome at any time, here are some items to consider bringing to worship this week.

Thank you for your incredible support of this UPC mission!!
For this week's grocery cart

Staples for our "brunch":

  • 10 lb box of oatmeal
    (oatmeal for 2 weeks)
  • large bag of white rice
  • large jars of jelly or preserves
  • large jars of peanut butter
    (not organic)
  • breakfast/snack bars
Hygiene Supply Summer Drive

The UPC Youth Ministry collects travel sized hygiene supplies year round, but the summers are a great time to help us stock back up. When you're traveling this summer either for vacation or for work, please remember to collect the travel sized hygiene supplies—from hotels, airplanes, wherever—and drop them off in the basket outside John Leedy’s office. These supplies go a long way to help those in need. Our VBS kids made up more than 60 hygiene kits last week—thank you, Heroes!—so our supply levels are a bit down. Please be sure that bottles are unopened / unused and that toothbrushes are individually wrapped. Thanks for your help!

Dear Friends in Christ,

We have been overwhelmed the past few weeks by the amazing love and care of our UPC family. Matt’s visits in the hospital and our home, your visits, cards, phone calls, emails, texts, posts on Linda’s Caring Bridge site, and most especially the extraordinary parade of meals, have lifted our spirits and given us a profound sense of what it means to be in the community of the beloved.  We now know many of you appreciate how far it is to drive to Reunion Ranch, our home in Hays County. So many of you have found your way here bearing gifts.

We are under no illusions about what we face in the days and weeks and months ahead. But be assured that our deep convictions about the promises of God remain unshaken. We read scripture and pray together with a new depth to be sure.   Thank you for your care for us and for so many others who cling to hope in Jesus Christ. We continue to covet your prayers.
