Neighborhood Meeting Kick Off    

Join Mayor Sylvester Turner, the Planning & Development Department ( P&D), and other community representatives to kick off Complete Communities meetings in Acres Homes, Third Ward, Second Ward, Gulfton, and Near Northside beginning August 29th.

Attend the Complete Communities meetings scheduled for your neighborhood to share t he vision of what you want to see in your community! YOUR input and plans will help define what makes your neighborhood a Complete Community.

The Complete Communities (CC) Neighborhood Team, pictured below, is staffed by Planning & Development Department employees who have chosen community planning as a profession. The team has been coordinating with other city departments and partners over the last several weeks in preparation for the first round of neighborhood meetings. They are ready to work with your community to provide support and assistance! Contact your CC Neighborhood Team Leader for questions or comments about this initiative.

Children at Risk reports that the following Houston ISD elementary schools in the currently designated Complete Community areas have been recognized as achieving Gold Ribbon status, per 2017 school rankings. Gold Ribbon schools are schools that are high performing, despite any challenges that may exist. Kudos to these schools!

Tips from the Toolbox

Homeowners: Help us apply for grants to elevate homes in flood-prone areas!

The City of Houston, in partnership with the Texas Water Development Board, would like to submit a grant application on behalf of interested homeowners to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA). This grant will request funds to elevate flood-prone homes. The deadline for homeowners to submit their information to the City of Houston is Friday, August 25, 2017 at 5 p.m.
