Wireless Tower News - July 2017
Port Charlotte Tower Stacked
Placing the middle section of the tower
The new tower at Port Charlotte Middle School in Port Charlotte, Florida, has been stacked. Part of an agreement with Charlotte County Public Schools, this is the second tower Milestone has completed for the Schools as well as the second tower we have built in the state of Florida.

The 120' monopole is located in a 50' x 50' compound near an existing parking lot on the school parcel. Verizon will be the first carrier to locate on the tower, with room for four additional carriers. In addition to a one-time $25,000 site fee from Milestone as part of their agreement, the School Board of Charlotte County will receive 40% of all gross revenue generated from carriers locating on the wireless tower.
FirstNet Updates
AT&T is beginning the deployment of the FirstNet Network, which was awarded by the Federal Government on March 30th. They will invest $35 billion in federal funding to build a nationwide inter-operable LTE network for first responders. Each state in the US must "opt in" to the network. Virginia was the first state to do so, with New Jersey, Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Wyoming not far behind. A majority of state governors are expected to announce their decision prior to October 2017.

Milestone has a strong presence in many of the markets where FirstNet would influence tower demand. Even in states that choose to "opt out," they will receive a portion of the federal funds to build their own network within the established standards. Milestone has recently received notice for six new modifications on towers in service in Virginia to add FirstNet equipment.
Women of AT&T
Golf Tournament
The Maryland chapter of the Women of AT&T group hosted their 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Bay Hills Golf Course in Arnold, Maryland, on June 26th. Over $23,000 was raised, allowing the group to make a sizable donation to the American Heart Association's Heart Walk as well as allowing them to increase the number of Women of AT&T scholarships they will award to deserving college students next year.

Milestone was one of the sponsors for the event and played in the tournament as well, teaming up with members from Smartlink LLC.
