One Ridgway is an initiative to encourage, reward and celebrate your local purchases. The model is simple, but with your participation, the impact on our community can be significant.

*A step-up purchase is a purchase from a local business or professional that you have never been to before, or special, increased patronage to a business that you frequent.
Every month we will share specials and prizes from our local businesses, and we will also highlight a "Local Business of Month" in an effort to further personalize the experience of shopping locally.
Finally, we want to be sharing just how significant local purchases are for our entire community. When you shop locally, approximately 68% of that purchase is reinvested into our community in many ways. When you purchase outside of our community, nothing stays in our community. Learn more in the

Glow Day Spa & Salon
A Family Business to its Core
There are few businesses you can visit knowing the owner was born just 20 yards from the storefront. Glow Day Spa & Salon, owned by Mercedes "Mimi" Gall, is one of those places. That deep personal connection is reflected in the love and care Mimi and her staff strive to provide every customer.
Mimi, a licensed aesthetician, started Glow Day Spa & Salon in 2011. Becky Jacobs joined in 2015.
Becky is a Colorado native and a professional stylist and cosmetologist who has been the Ridgway area for over 10 years.
Mimi describes the goal of Glow "
for people to feel good and feel loved, and to enjoy every minute." Glow offers a wide variety of services and treatments including: hair services (women and men), hair treatments, skin care, including microdermabrasion, nail services, waxing, eyelash extensions, make-up, and more.
When I asked Mimi to highlight some of her services that have a particularly strong impact on health and wellness, she made an important point. She noted that certainly all of the skin care treatments, and services like microdermabrasion which supports anti-aging and skin rejuvenation, as well as the massage services, all have significant health and wellness impact. However anything that makes you feel good about yourself is also 'health and wellness' as it impacts your mindset and self-esteem. Becky's expertise, including hair services and treatments, is particularly focused on making you feel good and happy with how you share yourself with the world. How you feel about yourself is core to health and wellness.
As of this Fall, in keeping with the family theme, Mimi and Becky are now joined by Mimi's sister Anamaria Worswick, a licensed massage therapist. Ana is fusing the healing capacities of locally sourced botanicals and massage therapy to create a unique wellness and relaxation experience.
When asked for wisdom when it comes to skin care, Mimi highlighted a good rule of thumb: 15% of skin care is done at the Spa and 85% is done at home. A quality spa appointment is a good first step but maintenance through quality skin care products is what ensures lasting results. I analogized this to just like a tune-up on your car only lasts with regular oil changes and maintenance, and without continual care, the long-term impact on the vehicle can be costly. Glow offers a wide selection of professional skin and hair products and Mimi and Becky will help customize recommended products to meet your needs.
When asked for final thoughts, Mimi circled back to family. A mother of two herself (Cameron is four and Gemma a sweet three-month old), Mimi is also raising the next generation. A generation that she hopes when they are grown-up will be able to afford to live and thrive in our special community. She emphasized how supporting Glow, just as supporting all of our local businesses does, impacts many lives and futures.
