Fall is a great time to tighten up loose ends, prepare to move forward and get healthy habits back on track. Let's touch on a few, nine actually, key points to help you protect your greatest asset: your health.

1.    Exercise at least 20 minutes per day at your target heart rate (visit http://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/heartrate to calculate.)
2. Avoid fast food
3. Avoid medications and the flu vaccine.
4. Drink at least 8 cups of water per day. (64 ounces)
5. Remove all artificial sweeteners from your diet.
6. Take 5000 IU's of vitamin D3 and 1 teaspoon of fish oil or flaxseed oil daily.
7. Stretch! Ask Casey about some spine stretching exercises or try a yoga class.
8. Treat yourself to monthly massages. They are good for the body and mind.
9. Keep your spine adjusted to help increase proper nerve flow to your immune system and to assure optimal flexibility and vitality.

Patient of the Month: Kyle Murphy

            I suffered from severe lower back pain and numbness and neck pain for several years, due to sports injuries and poor posture. Being a young college health science student, I thought I could fix these problems with stretching alone, but this alone wasn't seeming to fix the root of my problems. When my back and neck was at its worst I came home from my first semester at college and my mom had been going to Dr. D, for a few months and she me suggested I start to go too. I instantly trusted Dr. D when he showed a caring and professional demeanor along with extensive knowledge on his craft. It has been almost three years since and I don't know how my body would feel without Dr. D's miracle work.
Even after Dr. D fixed my initial problems, I

continue my care because my biweekly adjustments have become essential to keep my body feeling healthy, especially after a knee injury that has for the past year caused my hips to be displaced. I am 21 and several sports injuries have made me feel a lot older, but Dr. D has allowed me to feel my age every time I walk out of the health center. Chiropractic has allowed me to exercise, go on hikes with my family and enjoy physical activity again without worrying about neck or back pain.
I look forward to every single appointment, not only, because I feel great afterwards, but the staff at the Chiropractic Health Center of Glastonbury is friendly, welcoming and top notch. The staff create a calming atmosphere that I'm sure allows anyone to step away from their busy lives and just relax, I know it helps me. One thing that I appreciate the most, is that Dr. D is not only a caring health care professional, but he also goes the extra mile to educate his patients and treat them like family. I can't thank everyone at the Chiropractic Health Center of Glastonbury enough for how well I have been treated over the years. Thanks Dr. D and the team, I'm lucky to be your patient and I look forward to continuing my care.
