NO SCHOOL - VETERAN'S DAY

Dear Friends,

We have a short, but busy week ahead with three days of school and two days of great national importance and pride.

There is no school for students on Tuesday due to election day.  This is a monumnental event in America and a great opportunity to show your kids the importance of civil engagement.  If possible, bring your children to the polling place as you cast your vote.  Be a teacher for the day, and show them what it means to live in our democracy.  Although the campaign has been ugly, the smooth transition of government is a cornerstone of our nation and by including your children in the process we can ensure their future participation in the democratic process.

We will be off from school again on Friday in recognition of Veteran's Day. This is a day to thank all of those who serve in the military, both past and present.  Take the time to thank them for their sacrifice to preserve our freedom and guarantee that we continue to have the right to choose our leaders in the free election process.  Again, try to do something that shows your children the importance of being grateful for those that protect and serve.

These days are not just times away from school or work, they are important events in the life of every American and I ask that you share the experience with your kids in a special way.

Many Blessings,

Steven J. Santoli
Principal

Calling All Veterans and Active Military  in the Assumption Family
Assumption Catholic School will be hosting a Veteran's Day Assembly on Thursday November 10 AT 9:30 AM.  We would like to honor all veterans and active military members, but especially those in our Assumption Family.  If you or someone close to you is a veteran or active in the military we invite you to attend this assembly so that we can show our gratitude for your service and sacrifice.

If you, or somebody you know, would like to be a part of this special day, please RSVP to principal@oloaffld or 203-334-6271.

Homes for the Brave Souper Bowl  Going On Now
Help  Us Collect Over 1000 Cans of Soup for Homeless Veterans

Current Can Count: 400

The PreK 3 class is collecting cans of soup for the homeless veterans at Homes for the Brave. We have been supporting this mission for over 15 years and last year we set a record by collecting and donating  over 1000 cans of soup.

Students are asked to bring cans of soup to school every Monday from now until the Super Bowl.  In exchange, participating students can wear jeans with their uniform or their favorite team jersey on the Monday they donate the soup.
