Sennett Middle School After School Clubs and Sports

Dear Sennett Families:

We'd like to send another friendly reminder that our Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on Nov. 10th and 15th.  Having this face-to-face time is invaluable and our teachers are eager to share your child's progress and goals with you.  A great way to maximize this time is to come prepared with questions!  Some of those could include:
--What are some ways I can support reading and math at home?
--What questions can I ask my student at the end of the day?
--How can I help my student with organizational skills?
--What will my student learn in Second Quarter?
--How is my student doing socially in school?
--How can I use technology to help my student?

For 8th Grade Families: Personalized Pathways Info and Application Session

Personalized Pathways Informational Session will be held at LaFollette HS on November 30th 6:30-7:30pm .  Learn more from LaFollette and District staff about the program and application specifics.

Pathways EXPO at Madison College:  December 7th, 6:00pm

Upham Woods Fundraiser

Need a little light in your life?

Online only sales are happening now through  November 18.  Don't miss out on a great opportunity to not only support the Upham Woods Experience but also do a little holiday shopping.  All orders will be shipped directly to you so it couldn't be easier.  Spread the word and encourage others to take advantage of the fundraiser too.  40% of all sales will benefit our students!!

We will be hosting another candle sale in the spring where students will be involved with selling candles.  Because of the quickly approaching cut-off date for orders, we are only selling online this fall.
Thanks and spread the word!!
Sennett Community Visit Day
Friday, November 11

Sennett staff are excited to get to know the Sennett community and neighborhoods better. During our November 11th professional development day, we will spend most of the day on a community scavenger hunt. Staff will be visiting local places to learn about the community in which we work.  We'll be documenting this with photos and posting them to Twitter using our #SennettShines & #SennettGo hashtags. If you are out and about in the Sennett community on that day and see us, please say hi or better yet,  join us in a photo and share with us one of the reasons you think the Sennett community is so special.
Parent-Teacher Conferences 11/10 & 11/15

FALL conferences are an opportunity is to meet with ALL families (and students), for two-way communication around a student's individual learning, growth, the school's SIP, and our College and Career Readiness goals.

Parent-Teacher conferences are next week Tues, Nov. 10th @ 3:30-7:30 pm and the following week Thur Nov. 15th @ 12:30-7:30 pm Be sure to contact your student's homeroom teacher to schedule your time to meet.

We are looking forward to seeing you for your child's conference on either November 10th or November 15th.

In case you haven't heard yet: be sure to stop in our Community Room in Gym C while you are at Sennett! It is a new addition to our conferences this year and a place to meet support staff, win prizes, enjoy a light snack or refreshment, and learn valuable information about Sennett and its surrounding community.

If you haven't signed up for a conference yet, please contact your child's homeroom teacher
Connecting Families Through District-Wide Parent Groups

The Family, Youth & Community Engagement Department is providing district support to the  African American Parent Leadership Council  (AAPLC) and a new  Multicultural Parent Group , which focuses on ELL families. Both groups bring parents/caregivers from across the district together to connect with one another and build their capacity. Topics will be identified by the members of those groups and childcare, light food and transportation is available for both.

  • The first Multicultural Parent Group meeting is on Nov. 5 from 10:30-12pm at the Badger Rock Neighborhood Center. Here is a flyer you can share with your families.
  • The African American Parent Leadership Council is open to all parents who are raising African American students in the District. The group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at JC Wright Middle School from 6-7:30pm. Here is a flyer you can share with your families.
