Invest in Rose Hill's Heritage & Future
Received Community Foundation Grant

Lockerly's " Invest in Rose Hill's Heritage & Future " drive received $20,000 from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia in October. With this grant acquisition, funds from the Watson-Brown Foundation, and individual donations, we have generated $38,750 toward our goal of $100,000 to preserve Rose Hill for future generations. Plaster repair and painting in two bedrooms is scheduled to begin in the near future, and work on the two parlors and central hallways will begin after the first of the year.

A Huge Success

Our Education Director Greg Eilers and Committee Chair Kathy Chandler worked tirelessly to coordinate our October Family Fun Day that was deemed a success by all who participated. With almost 200 visitors, the Arboretum was filled with not only the beauty and sounds of nature, but also the laughter and voices of parents and children as they ran, played and explored the Woods Museum, trails and science activity tables. Some chose to take a docent-guided tour of Rose Hill and many examined an active Honey Bee Hive provided by Roger Kicklighter.

Without volunteers Family Fun Day would not have been possible. A special thank you to ALL who gave their time and expertise for this event: Terriessa Barman, Sara Brantley, Nancy Chaklos, Kathy Chandler, Carole Eisenhart, Kathe Fuller, Doug Goings, Carolyne Guitton, Kent Horton, Pat Johnson, Wanda McKnight, Arlene & Dick Mueller, Kathy Scott and GCSU students from Dr. Harriett Whipple's class and Mrs. Ruth Eiler's Academic Outreach Program.

Georgia Gives Day - November 17th

Mark your calendars for November 17th,  Georgia Gives Day! This is a day designed to support non-profits throughout Georgia. Donations made online during this 24-hour period have the potential of generating matching funds, so we encourage our supporters to consider making a donation during the day. Certain hours during the day are called "Power Hours" and during these time periods donations generate even more funding and donors can win prizes. We've learned, however, that any donation made to Lockerly between now and November 17th, via the Georgia Gives Day Website, will count toward the total funds generated on the 17th.

Watch for more information via Facebook as well as an email or two! All donations are tax-deductible!
Please support us on Georgia Gives Day!
