A Message from Cheri Gioe:
There is no doubt that grandparents play an important role in the lives of their grandchildren. Likewise, grandchildren play an important role in the lives of their grandparents. Grandparents are important because they are a link to the past and are the holders of family traditions. As Catholics, grandparents are often the sharers of faith, handing down the beautiful traditions of The Church.
In a video address dated August 20, 2014, Pope Francis shared tips to improve family life. One of the tips focused on family life and the elderly. For the Pope,
a fundamental pillar of family life is the elderly
. They are the future of the people because they are its memory. For this reason, Pope Francis knows the imprint left by grandparents. He said, "One of the most beautiful things in the life of a family, of our lives, is to caress a child and to let them be caressed by a grandfather or grandmother.” What a beautiful image Pope Francis gives us of a gentle caress between grandparents and grandchildren.
Next week grandparents are invited to MBS to spend the morning with your grandchild(ren) at our annual Grandparent’s Day Celebration. We hope you will join us for this special day. It is sure to create lasting memories.
In Christ,

From the Office of Child Protection:
Parents,
The Safe and Sacred online test site used for the child protection process will be locked for system maintenance and upgrades from November 18-27. Please check your calendar to see if any activity you may be wanting to volunteer for in November/December will be affected by this lockdown. Please do your training in advance if necessary. You will not be able to train during this time period.
Scout parents should have received child protection paperwork notices. If you have received a notice, please complete the necessary paperwork and return to me. Some are new scout parents who need to complete the entire child protection process, while some need to update their training and/or code of ethics. Also, please note completing the child protection process for the Parish, since scouts are sponsored by MBS Parish, does NOT make you compliant to volunteer at MBS School. Louisiana law requires school volunteers to have a fingerprint background check done. If you have any questions concerning your status for child protection, please contact me at
225-753-5526
or
bpeterson@mbsbr.org
.
Thank you,
Beverly Peterson, Child Protection Site Coordinator
