Two FBISD marching bands head to State Contest
Fort Bend ISD is proud to announce that the Austin High School Marching Band and Angels Dance team, along with the Clements High School Marching Band, are advancing to the State UIL Marching Band Competition in San Antonio on Tuesday, November 8.

Become an FBISD Mentor; Mentor Training on Nov. 9
Parents and community members who have a desire to help equip and inspire students to be successful, in school and in life, are invited to join Fort Bend ISD's Mentor Team. Volunteer mentors devote 30-45 minutes a week to students at all levels to help them reach their full potential.

Kempner Catwalk Theatre presents The Woman In Black, Nov. 10-12
Kempner High School's Catwalk Theatrical Company will soon unveil the mystery of The Woman In Black in four electrifying performances. The play runs on Nov. 10, 11 and 12 at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee performance on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2:00 p.m., in the school's auditorium (14777 Voss Rd., Sugar Land 77498).

Fort Bend ISD's Counseling and Post-Secondary Readiness Department joined Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in hosting the Global Citizenship Series 2016. This year's topic "Intolerance and Violence: A Global Perspective," gave participants an opportunity to discuss the causes of violence, its impact on society, and possible solutions to help end the widespread epidemic.

Fort Bend ISD's Small Business Enterprise Program had a great turn out for its workshop on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, with 120 small business owners, contractors and subcontractors in attendance. The Small Business Enterprise Program was adopted by the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees following voter approval of the $484 million bond program.

The FBISD Board of Trustees named Veronica Sopher as the new Chief Communications Officer for the Fort Bend Independent School District.In February 2017, Sopher will replace Nancy Porter, who is retiring from the District. Porter served six years as Fort Bend ISD Chief Communications Officer.

During their Regular Meeting in October, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees appointed Deirdre Holloway (pictured left) as the Director of State and Federal Programs, and Steven Viro (right) as Director of Materials Management.

Fort Bend ISD is proud to announce that a Clements High School teacher has been honored with a distinguished award from the University of Chicago. William Chan was selected for University of Chicago's Outstanding Educator Award, after being nominated by a former FBISD student. The award recognizes educators who have influenced and challenged students toward intellectual growth.
