ELCA Homecoming 2016
What a great night of food and fellowship was enjoyed as we thanked all those who invest in the mission of our school by giving to the ELCA Fund at the Donor Appreciation Tailgate Tradition.  We were  also blessed to see over 100 alumni and their families in attendance whose lives have been impacted by the ministry of our school.

A special thank you to our sponsors who helped to make the event so special:

We've come so far...and you're the reason.

If you haven't done so already, will you help us reach our calendar year-end goal of  75%
ELCA Fund family participation?

We are currently at our highest participation percentage ever... 51%!

Please consider keeping ELCA in the Top 3 of the non-profits

The student council sponsored Canned Food Drive collected 1,671 cans this year for the Helping In His Name Food Pantry. Seven th grade donated the most for the middle school and those students will be receiving a day outside during IF. The junior class  donated the most for the high school and will be having an extra dress-down day.  Thank you to all who donated!
A shout out to our valuable Booster members and supporters.

It is through your continued support we are able to grow and equip  our Kingdom Athletes. So we thank you for the valuable role you play  in this. If you are interested in learning more about the Booster Club  or in becoming a member, click here .

ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS and ANNOUNCEMENTS

ELCA students traveled to Clemson University on Saturday, October 22, to attend a Spanish poetry competition.  Our students competed with over 300 students from Georgia and South Carolina.  Six of our students received awards: Dhruti Trivedi, Jade Hensel and Eunjin Choi placed first in their categories, Kayla Hamlin and Alyssa Moseley placed second in their categories and Ishan Padmani placed third in his category.
Congratulations, students, for a job well done!
A MONUMENTAL TASK

Sixth grade students in Mrs. Schuerman's math class have displayed their recent creations. Students chose a  monument or landmark, researched all of the dimensions, and then used proportions to scale them down to an accurate but manageable size. They also shared information about their chosen monument/landmark with classmates. Awesome work!
GETTING THE SKIN-ny
Skin is the largest organ in the body and high school anatomy and physiology students recently measured the approximate surface area of their classmates. Newspaper was used to cover the skin layer and then measurements were taken of the paper. The skin takes up about 1.8 square meters  on the average human body and our students came within a 5% error of this measurement!

FINE ARTS

Parents and fellow students enjoyed the fourth grade presentation
"GPS:  God's Plan of Salvation" this week! What a great job!

Chorus News!

It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas!  Our choruses are working hard preparing for upcoming performances in December.  First, on December 3rd, the choruses are singing for the lighting of the tree in the McDonough Square.  Details are still being worked out for exact times, but performances will be around 4:30 and end with the tree lighting at 5:30.  Following the tree lighting will be the Christmas parade.  Also, on December 10th and 11th, the choruses will be singing with the choirs from Eagles Landing First Baptist Church in the Christmas performance.  The theme this year is Come Together.  Part of that theme comes from the collaboration between the church and the ELCA band, chorus, and guitar classes.  We hope you can join us for these events.  ELCA is blessed with some really talented students and God is giving us opportunities to use these talents for Him.

For the month of November, some of our choral students are working hard to audition for All State Chorus.  These students have to prepare major, minor, and chromatic scales, a vocal solo, which for high school students is in Italian, and sight reading.  I'm proud of Tiffany Franklin, Caley Ingram, Caleb Middleton, Loren Sullivan, and Zion Middleton for putting the work into getting ready for these auditions.  The audition date is November 12th.  They compete with students all over the state of Georgia.   ~Mrs. Tracey Fuller
