What's in the Marion County Transit Plan?
The Marion County Transit Plan proposes a 70% increase in IndyGo service and features shorter waits, longer hours, more efficient transfers, and every route every day. In addition, rapid transit lines would be built and operational. This is our last newsletter describing the elements of the proposed plan. Go to http://www.indyconnect.org/news/  for past newsletters. Next week we'll discuss the county's next steps, based on election results.
Longer Hours
The Marion County Transit Plan proposes that routes operate earlier in the mornings and later into the evenings. The start and stop times for routes in today's system are inconsistent. Therefore, it's difficult to know whether the bus will be running after work or school.

The plan proposes that routes operate for more hours, and consistently throughout the day/week:
  • All routes operating from 5am-1am on Weekdays (Monday-Friday)
  • All routes operating from 6am-Midnight on Saturdays
  • All routes operating from 6am-10pm on Sundays
Check out the images below to see how many hours per day routes operate today compared to 2021 under the proposed Marion County Transit Plan. Click to view larger images.
The colors in the images mean something as well:
  • red: a bus comes every 15 minutes
  • blue: a bus comes every 30 minutes
  • green: a bus comes once per hour

The November 8 ballot question on transit is advisory. If the measure passes, the Indianapolis City-County Council will decide whether to enable the transit tax and at what rate (between 0.1% and 0.25%). The Marion County Transit Plan as proposed assumes a 0.25% income tax rate.
