Newsflash. It is AUGUST, my friends. Is anyone else as freaked out as I am about how fast this summer is going? It's time for that check-in with ourselves. Have I been making the most of my summer? Who do I want to be by the time we celebrate the Autumnal Equinox in September? Have I relaxed enough with my family and friends? Am I accomplishing what I had set out to do at the beginning of the season? Have I been able to refresh and regroup?
The great thing is, there is still time to plenty of time to course correct and be where we want to be as the seasons make their next transition.
And, as I have said many a time in the last several weeks, this has been a challenging summer. For the world. For many people I know. For me. There is so much NOISE out there - and some of that noise that bombards us on a constant can make life pretty confusing.
Thank goodness, then for the lovely reminder that Rev. Ken Foor offered this past weekend when he gently encouraged us
during his homily to BE STILL. LISTEN. HEAR THE VOICE OF THE DIVINE. The sound of silence can be a beautiful sound, especially when it helps us remember the Truth of who we are rather than the Illusion that the world tempts us to believe in. Rev Ken's peaceful energy and soothing words were just what many of us needed to hear. And who doesn't love when Rev. Ken shares the podium with his wonderful wife Rev. Sherry Foor? It is a team strengthened by their love for each other and their longtime dedication to ISD. Rev. Sherry's
healing and wellness meditation was the perfect complement to the day's theme of stillness and silence.
So it is time to make the most of the remaining days of our summer! And we certainly can help you do this at ISD - especially with the arrival this week of
Rev. Kathy Kerston, Pastor/Director of our sister church ISD-Sparta, and world renowned astrologer! She'll kick off her visit with an all day workshop called
EFT's Effects On Healing
on Saturday August 6. You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn our practice this easy, wonderful and powerful tool (also known as "tapping") to help accelerate changes in many areas of your life.
Rev. Kathy will will also be our guest homilist at the Sunday Service on Sunday, August 7. She will be available for a limited number of private readings during her week-long stay, and you can email her directly at kathykerston@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.
Rev. Kathy will conclude her week of residency after the service on Sunday, August 14 with a fun numerology workshop called "I Got Your Number," a fascinating look at how you can find out more about Who You Are with YOUR numbers.
And don't forget these other August offerings:
- our Spanish Language Metaphysical Service , NEXT SUNDAY, August 7, following our regular service. Quiet meditation and mini-healings begin at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary and the service begins at 1:30 p.m.
- our ever-popular Message Circle, Saturday evening August 13, where you bask in the energy and receive messages from Spirit through ISD's magical mediums.
We are extending our fundraising for our seventh annual Back(Pack) to School project. WE STILL NEED NEARLY $800 TO ASSEMBLE THE NUMBER OF BACKPACKS WE NEED. Your generous contribution of $35 will help a child get the supplies-stocked backpack he or she needs to begin the school year! PLEASE HELP US HELP THE CHILDREN.
So remember when we are feeling like it is just "noisy" all around us, remember to make some time for some summer stillness!
In Peace and Silence -
Rev. Rob Banaszak
