From The Editor...

As the New Year unfolds and as you make your New Year's resolutions for your personal life and your business, the Silver Fox Advisors would highly recommend that one of your business resolutions be to seek the advice or mentoring of an experienced business advisor to position your business to take advantage of the opportunities that 2015 and beyond have in store.

It is not advisable to take those bad decisions, outdated processes and "if I only's" that have been holding your business back from being just a "Good Company", rather than a "Great Company" into a New Year.

Think back to last year at this time, as 2014 was beginning, and imagine if you will that you had taken some action on the things that had been troubling to you in your business: What a year 2014 could have been for your company!

If your business is already a "Great Business", we congratulate you on your success and wish you continued excellent achievements. If you would like to share your success story or beneficial ideas with other business owners, we invite you to attend one of our Lunch and Learn events or consider joining one of our CEO Roundtables.

We encourage you to visit our Web-site at www.silverfox.org or www.silverfoxadvisors.com and learn more about the Silver Fox Advisors, our Associates and their businesses, as well as our great programs and community outreach endeavors.

Leaders For Change

By Al Spinks, A Silver Fox Advisor

In this article I'll provide 3 steps on how we can become "Leaders for Change". My 3R concept of (Recognition, Reconciliation and Reconnection) will provide the framework for this discussion.

It's important to recognize that leading for change is just as important in our homes as it is in the corporate world, our place of work or worship. For the remainder of this article I'll use the term "organization" to refer to any group to which we belong.

Change constantly occurs all around us. Just take a look at the auto industry with the use of hybrid and electric cars. Also take a look at the proliferation of cell phones and tablet computers. Personally, I am amazed at how often I purchase major items off the Internet from the comfort of my own home. I would never have done these things 10 years ago.

Change is a nonnegotiable part of life and can either be embraced or resisted.

Becoming A Legend

Leadership Advice From The Halls of Fame

Beacon to Your Business Success

By Hank Moore, Corporate Strategist™

Are you a legend? Do you admire people who went the distance? Have you celebrated organizations that succeeded? I hope that you are and will continue to be distinctive.

This essay is to give insights into those who leave legacies. The secret to long-term success lies in mapping out the vision and building a body of work that supports it. The art with which we build our careers and our legacy is a journey that benefits many others along the way.

These are the ingredients that make a legend:

  • Significant business contributions.

  • Mature confidence and informed judgment.

  • Courage and leadership.

  • High performance standards.

  • Professional innovation.

  • Public responsibility.

  • Ethics and integrity.

  • Cultural contributions.

  • Giving to community and charity.

  • Visionary abilities.

  • Commitment to persons affected (stakeholders).

I have been blessed by receiving several Legend honors. What I remember the most are the ceremonies and the nuggets of wisdom that flowed. The commonality was the zest of giving back the honors to others.
