PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:

Thank you to the many organizaitons who promote the Coop Gallery to their members.  The Coop serves as an additional space for many artists looking to showcase and sell their work.

November is Celebrate the Arts month.  Let the Art Council know of any special activities or events you will be hosting during this awareness month. 

November 7-13 is the 7th annual Paint the Beach plein air festival.  Hosted by the Fort Myers Beach Art Associaiton, Town of Ft. Myers, Fish Tale Marina, Santini Marina Plaza and Greater Ft. Myers Beach Friends of the Arts.  Over 60 artists painting the beaches and byways are competing for over $6,000 in cash prizes.  Artwork will be on sale from Nov 11-13.  Visit Paint the Beach.com for more information

Next April new officers will be installed during the general meeting.  Officers to be elected include- President, 1st Vice President, and Secretary.  Remaining in office will be the Treasurer and 2nd Vice President (Gallery Director).  I would like to present a slate of officers for election at the March general council meeting.  If you are interested in serving in any capacity or if you would like more information, please contact one of the officers.

Fundraising events, outdoor shows, exhibition opportunities, classes and workshops. 

Additionally, the website has been updated with council meeting location and dates, receiving dates and reception dates.

Please welcome Judi Fuchs as the new Gallery Director.  Judi has been instrumental in helping out the past two gallery directors in running the day to day operations of the gallery.  She will be assisted by Gail Martin. I know everyone will enjoy working with Judi and Gail.

I would like to thank Don Hutchinson for his professionalism in trying to elevate the gallery to a new level during his time as gallery director.  We wish him nothing but success. 

***IMPORTANT, because our first general meeting falls on election day the officers have chosen to change the date of the meeting to Thursday, November 10, 2016.

2017 Winners Circle

The 2017 Winners Circle will be on view at the Naples Art Association from February 4 through March 4, 2017.  

So far we have 26 entries for the Winner's Circle exhibition. Organizational leaders, if you have not submitted your list of participants please do so immediately.

ARTISTS- Please submit a jpeg of the artwork you are submitting for inclusion in the Winner Circle brochure. Artwork needs to be received by November 15, 2016 to be included in the brochure.  Please send jpeg to Marisa Hatfield at [email protected]. 
 
Receiving will take place on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10am-2pm at the Naples Art Association.  Judging will take place on Thursday.  Presidents voting will be on Thursday and Friday, January 26 & 27,2017 from 10am-4pm.

Awards to be given include 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Judge's choice in both 2D & 3D. A President's Choice Award will also be given.
 
Opening reception will be Friday, February 3, 2017 from 5:30p-7:30p.  All exhibiting artists and one guest may attend for free, all other guest will be $10.00 (this is an NAA policy not an ACSWF policy).

2016-17 Art Council General Meeting Schedule:
The general council meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month December to April.  The November meeting will be held on Thursday due to election day on Nov. 8th.  Social time will start at 9:30am with the meeting starting at 10:00am.  Each month we will have a demonstrating artist and a key note speaker. More details are available on the website. 

Nov 10, 2016- Estero Art League- demonstrating artist will be Gloria Holman, Judi Fuchs will be updating the group on the Coop Art Gallery, the 2017 budget will be presented.

Dec 13, 2016- Center for the Arts of Bonita Springs
Jan 10, 2017- Arts of the Inland
Feb 14, 2017- Visual Arts Center, Punta Gorda
Mar 14, 2017- Cape Coral Art League
Apr 11, 2017- Naples Art Association (this will include the election of officers)
