Continuing Education Goes Virtual
Ready to enjoy the outstanding continuing education (CE) programs you love at a computer or mobile device near you? Sherman College’s Department of Continuing Education is dedicated to bringing quality CE programs to the profession and has found a way to make getting the information that matters to you a breeze. With the majority of states now accepting online CE hours, the department is excited to offer online learning to meet your needs.

As the initiative moves forward, the department will be adding more content options that feature our own world-renowned faculty and current and new CE seminar partners, as well as live events recorded for CE purposes and topics required for licensure in various states. Sherman Represented
at Greenville Drive Event

Sherman College of Chiropractic celebrated its joining the Greenville Chamber of Commerce during the Greenville Drive baseball team’s Chamber Night on August 16. Sherman College Executive Vice President Dr. Neil Cohen, Domestic and International Recruiter Lina M. Guillen-Sucre and Domestic Recruiter Michael Cooper represented the college at the event. Sherman College continues to actively look for ways to strengthen its ties to the Upstate South Carolina community. In that effort, the college recently joined the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and plans to expand its involvement in the Greenville community.

Ambassadors Active
in Spartanburg Community

Along with attending the quarterly dinner, participating in Showcase Sherman Weekend, conducting campus visits and holding monthly meetings, Sherman’s student ambassadors met on campus early on a recent Saturday morning to participate in campus tour training and leadership training, which was hosted by Climb Upstate. The group also held recruiting sessions during lunch hours, assisted at the college’s recent Business After Hours event, and will conduct student interviews in September for those interested in joining the program. The Student Ambassadors continue to represent Sherman College and are the future leaders of the profession.

Pittsburgh Area Alumni Gather for Sherman After Hours
Alumni enjoyed the fellowship with fellow graduates practicing in the Pittsburgh area at a Sherman After Hours Dinner August 24. The group met at the Bettis Grille 36 restaurant to hear Executive Vice President Neil Cohen, D.C., share college news and the leadership’s vision for the future. Director of Alumni Relations Marggi Roldan shared news from the alumni office and alumni association.

Sherman College is gearing up for the final Showcase Sherman Weekend of 2016, October 21-22. This event is for prospective students to explore chiropractic and Sherman College and is designed to ignite students’ passion for leadership as well as help them begin their pursuit of becoming the next generation of DCs2B. Higgins-Fordree Named Quality Enhancement Plan Director
Janice Higgins-Fordree, D.C., has been named Sherman College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Director. The QEP is part of the college’s re-affirmation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and will focus on Professionalism: Integrity and Image. The Quality Enhancement Plan is a multi-year campus wide effort to enhance student learning in the area of professionalism. Dr. Higgins-Fordree has a wide range of experience in chiropractic as a field doctor, a case doctor in the Sherman College Chiropractic Health Center and a classroom instructor. She has served the college as director of interns and has led workshops for students on professional image.
In Memory of
Helen McPike Brown, D.C.H.

It is with sadness that Sherman College shares the news of the passing of Helen McPike Brown on August 19, 2016. Her husband of more than 70 years, Gordon Brown, D.C., was near her side at the time, in their home on the Sherman College campus in Spartanburg, SC.
Prospective Students
Get a VIP Experience

The campus visit experience is a valuable tool for prospective students when deciding on the right chiropractic college. Beginning in August, prospective students coming to Sherman College for a campus visit are being treated to an enhanced VIP experience. 
Roldan Elected Altrusa Foundation President
Director of Alumni Relations Marggi Roldan was elected President of the Altrusa International of Spartanburg, SC, Foundation in June 2016 for a one year term. The foundation manages the funds raised by the Altrusa Club for its service projects.
Hart Published in International Journal
Assistant Director of Research and Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences Dr. John Hart has been published in the International Journal of Statistics in Medical Research 2016. His publication was titled, “A Method to Assess Neurological Effectiveness of a Spinal Adjustment for an Individual Patient: A Descriptive Study. The paper can be found here.
Ehlich Appointed to SC Chiropractic Board of Examiners
Sherman College Assistant Professor Beth Ehlich, D.C., has been appointed to the South Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley appointed Ehlich for a term beginning July 12, 2016 and ending in 2020.
Health Center Names Intern of the Month
The Health Center faculty recognizes interns each month who excel in clinical performance, patient management, professionalism and analytical and adjusting technique. The July 2016 Intern of the Month is Yadira Santiago, a thirteenth-quarter student from Puerto Rico. She graduates in December 2016 and plans to practice in Texas.
