Focus on Student Learning
Electromagnetic Spectrum

The entire 7th grade contributed in creating a visualization of the different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible, UV, X and gamma rays).  Since our sun generates waves in every region of the spectrum, we created a faux sun and placed it in the center of the science room's ceiling.  The students created waves of differing wavelengths representing the different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum that emanated from the sun towards the ceiling lights.  Each ceiling light is covered with an image of the same nebula taken by a special camera that uses only that region of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Get Involved on a Committee at Peabody
We are in need of parents who would be willing to share their expertise and perspective on one of our committees. We will have opportunities on both our accreditation and ad hoc board committees. Areas of interest would be technology, strategic planning, development, diversity, environmental stewardship, and communication. Please contact Mr. Orlando for more information or to express an interest.

And to our intrepid Peabody crew: Rob Orlando, Victoria Young, Travis Miller, Courtney Bernsen, Kathryn Barker, Veronica Gomez-Torres, and Aimee Nolasco who set up, toured, cleaned up, and in general made it a great day for all our visitors!

And finally, a word on our amazing students and Admissions Ambassadors...here is an excerpt from an email I received Wednesday:

"We  had such a wonderful visit and were so impressed with everything.  Please pass along a sincere thank you to all of the teachers and staff for being patient with the distractions today. As a fellow educator, I am most appreciative of the social and etiquette skills that are taught.  It was so nice to see students greeting adults at the door and taking the time to speak with us. It was also a pleasure to speak with each and every teacher in the building as they were so generous with their time."

I think that says it all...THANK YOU!  :)

Best,
Diane
