A Safe Haven for Animals
In this issue:
JOIN OUR OCTOBER TWO-FUR CAMPAIGN!
It takes two... a very generous donor and YOU - to give animals hope and homes this month!

Now through October 31st, your compassionate contributions to the animals of SHS will be matched by a very generous donor!

This anonymous individual has not only stepped up to sponsor adoptions and post-adoption training classes for some of our longer stay animals, but has also offered to match your donations, up to $2,500, helping us double up on the love and support.

Your contribution - big or small - will go twice as far in giving animals the medical and behavioral support they need to find their way into loving homes.

HAPPY TAILS
New beginnings for Coco and friend!

Michael, now Coco, came to us from an overcrowded shelter with his two sisters. After a bit of medical attention and a little socialization with one of our dedicated foster volunteers, this sweet pup was ready for the world. We are excited for all the love and fun new experiences in store for Coco and his lovely guardian - a first time puppy owner herself!

Tiberius: An ambassador for his species.

Tiberius came to SHS when his owner passed away. Sweet and sensitive, the young cat was in need of a mellow home. Sally, the woman in the middle of the photo, was looking to adopt a cat in need of a home. However, her granddaughter was afraid of cats! What's a cat lover to do? Find the right cat, of course! Tiberius's quiet and calm manner instantly won over her granddaughter and helped her overcome her fears. Good work Tiberius, you are an excellent spokespurrson for catkind.

Marry and Hazel ride home in style!

A young lady was ready for her first pet. Her parents helped the her do research and figure out which kind of pet would work best with their family. They settled on guinea pigs and went on a shopping spree to gather all of the necessary supplies. When they were finally ready for their new pets, they looked on sonomahumane.org and saw that Marry and Hazel were in need of a family, so they came right on in and brought them home. Just take a look at their temporary digs! That's just to get them to their real home! Marry and Hazel are going to be very happy and spoiled piggies.

HEALDSBURG HAPPENINGS
Healdsburg Adoption Counselor Gabe helps Armand find a purrfect match! Healdsburg

"Armand's adopter was looking for a cat with long hair she could snuggle with. I knew Armand would win her over with his cool, calm demeanor and charm.  Her initial visit went very well and we felt fairly confident she would be back to adopt him.  A few hours later she came back to the Healdsburg Center to adopt Armand and provide him with a wonderful life.  We could not ask for a better fit. Armand had finally found the thing we could not provide for him at the Center - a home!
We wish Armand and his adopter the very best."

Thanks,  Gabe

Read-to-a-Dog at Healdsburg Center!

We're happy to share a photo of our first reader (along with her little brother) who visited the Healdsburg Center for our monthly Read to a Dog program. This focused young reader arrived, walked straight in, sat down with her book and enjoyed some quality time with Bubbles and David - one of our Read Teams. Her father said she planned the whole visit after learning about it from a flyer she saw at school. Please spread the word! All kids from pre-readers to age 17 are welcome to come read to Bubbles. He looks forward to your visit!

Our monthly Read-to a Dog program comes to the Healdsburg Center every 4th Saturday from 1-2 pm. Please spread the word, all readers are welcome!  Learn more here!

Did you know that we offer our Read to a Dog Program at libraries in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol too?  Check our events calendar for upcoming dates!
