Celebrate moving through your Halloween flow, with this open level yoga class led by Patsy Hutchison. Live tunes by  multi-instrumentalist, performer, producer and energy worker, Zach Zarcone will kick off your weekend with fun and play. Whether you are new to yoga or a long time yogi, this class with Patsy and Zach will invite you to deepen your experience of Vinyasa Flow. Through music and movement you will find a sense of play in your practice, learning to listen to the body's intuition, and how to move like your most embodied self. Zach blends electric and acoustic instruments to create sonic textures that are earthy and grounded as well as uplifting and playful. Using his intuition Zach listens to the energy of the room for musical guidance while holding a reverent and sacred space.

The Yoga Sutras, widely regarded as the authoritative text on yoga, is a collection of verses outlining the eight limbs of yoga. As asana (posture or pose) is only one of the eight limbs of yoga, these "threads" of wisdom (as sutra translates from Sanskrit) offer guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life on and off the yoga mat. This Vinyasa based class will examine different sutras each week and practitioners of all levels will explore an alignment-based, dynamic flow that cultivates greater stamina, strength and flexibility. Students will be challenged to sweat, laugh and look deep beyond their perceived limitations. The Yoga Sutras offer us a precise inner mapping of the essential truths for strengthening awareness and freeing ourselves from self-imposed obstacles. It is a crystal clear model of living consciously in the present, being sure of our path and our choices.

 



Seared Tuna Salad



Ingredients:

4 (6oz) yellow fin tuna steaks- about ¾ inch thick
1 t freshly ground black pepper, divided
1 ½ T olive oil, divided in half
2 T fresh lemon juice
8 cups arugula
2 cups thinly sliced fennel bulb (approx. 1 small bulb)

Directions

Sprinkle tuna with black pepper. Heat half of the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add tuna steaks and cook for 2 minutes on each side or until they reach desired degree of doneness. Combine some black pepper, other half of olive oil, and lemon juice in a large bowl, whisk together. Add arugula and fennel and toss well.   Read More
