STEM EDUCATION AT THE SCIENCE CENTER
group_kids_computer.jpg

Last year, 6,012 children and 172 teachers from 56 local schools participated in STEM education at the Science Center.  Without you, we could not have achieved so much.  This year, we'd like to do even more, especially for low- to moderate-income students attending Pinellas County schools.

To ensure 500 additional students have access to STEM education this school year, p lease help the Science Center raise $25,000 by October 31, 2017.

"I look forward to our annual Science Center field trip. The interactive learning experience has a lasting impact on the students' retention and provides a strong base for future STEM classes."  Mrs. Nyugen, Blanton Elementary

DUKE ENERGY GRANT ENHANCES WORKFORCE

Duke Energy Foundation presented a $50,000 grant award to support workforce development in the Tampa Bay region.  The grant will establish new training programs for the Tampa Bay Advanced Manufacturing Institute located at the Science Center.   The Institute offers courses to assist individuals seeking career development through short-term, customizable training programs.

"We invest in workforce development initiatives to help create a skilled workforce and make a positive impact in the communities we serve.  The programs enable local residents to receive training in high-demand fields and land opportunities with businesses in the region," Harry Sideris, president of Duke Energy Florida.

SUMMER CAMP AT THE SCIENCE CENTER
A BIG THANK YOU TO THE 2017 SUMMER CAMP SPONSORS!

During the summer, 662 children participated in summer camp at the Science Center.  Your generous gift made it possible to enroll children who otherwise would not be able to attend, children like Jason.

Jason attended the 3 D Printing summer camp.  3D printing is one of the fastest growing STEM fields. Jason told us, "I really liked meeting new friends, learning to design 3D objects and making cool stuff. It was interesting and fun!"  Jason's Mom said, "He loved the 3D Printing summer camp.  Thank you so much for giving him this wonderful opportunity."
