Digital Rochester announces 2017 GREAT Awards Winners

Rochester, NY  Digital Rochester  announced the winners of the 2017 GREAT Awards at their awards celebration on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Nominations were received in seven awards categories and a panel of judges narrowed the nominees to 20 finalists and a winner in each category. The high energy, red carpet awards show featured Ginny Ryan, News Anchor at 13WHAM TV, to assist in recognizing all finalists and announcing the winners.
 
2017 GREAT Awards Winners:
 
Digital Marketing Award: Causewave Community Partners
For rolling out a digital media bank that allowed nonprofits to build and grow their brands through online advertising, enabling easy management and participation with media partners.
 
Emerging Tech Company Award: CloudCheckr Inc.
For offering a comprehensive cloud management solution that helps customers keep their cloud costs under control- with clients typically reporting a savings of 30% on their cloud costs.
 
Emerging Tech Leader Award: Dan Schneiderman, FOSS@MAGIC Research Associate & Community Liaison, Rochester Institute of Technology
For organizing community hackathons and monthly speakers, connecting students to open source projects and promoting open source and the maker movement to the Rochester community.
 
Healthcare Technology Award: Carestream Health
For creating the compact OnSight 3D Extremity System which allows healthcare providers to capture high-quality 3D images and conduct patient consultation in a single visit, improving productivity and convenience for the specialist and patient.
 
Student Achievement Award: Melissa Becker - University of Rochester
For developing process technology to lower the cost of solid-state lithium batteries. The target application is high energy density, solid-state batteries for the electric vehicle market with a long-term benefit of safe, non-flammable and non-polluting sources of transportation.
 
Technology Innovation Award: Datto, Inc.
For providing simple, easy-to-use and fully integrated products and services to Managed Service Providers, which are then sold to small and medium businesses, generating monthly recurring revenue for the Managed Service Providers.
 
Technology Leader Award: David Wilson, Director of Infrastructure, Paychex, Inc.
For leading multiple IT infrastructure and platform initiatives, upgrading the environment, eliminating single points of failure and delivering on additional capacity and automation. Most recently, David Wilson was project sponsor for an initiative that was delivered on time, under budget and with high-quality results.
