Welcome back to school!
As we begin our school year, your school nurses are working hard to keep everyone's kiddos healthy. Part of this is to ensure that all of the students' immunizations are up-to-date according to the Ohio Department of Health requirements.
Elementary students should be fully immunized for their Kindergarten year, not requiring any additional until 7
th
grade.
What is "herd immunity"?
When a critical portion of a community is immunized against a contagious disease, most members of the community are protected against that disease because there is little opportunity for an outbreak. Even those who are not eligible for certain vaccines-such as infants, pregnant women, or immunocompromised individuals-get some protection because the spread of contagious disease is contained.
Ohio Revised Code requires immunization records be submitted within 14 days of school beginning. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school nurse.
