Doug Burke
ACE Tennis President
Tennis Director Burlington

It is wonderful to see everybody back for the new 2017 - 2018 academy year. There is a buzz of excitement in the air as parents, players and coaches look forward to an exciting year at school and on the tennis court. Both clubs have gone though extensive refurbishing - Cedar Springs' new ownership has done tremendous work upgrading the club in Burlington, and Toronto Tennis City has recently completed extensive improvements as well.

Most of our competitive players are getting back on track, after a welcome short break at the end of the summer : while our new International Morning program has started, and it is great to see several of our younger players also committing themselves to intensive on-court and fitness training in the mornings before school.
Our progressive programs are "through the roof " in terms of attendance, which seems to be reflecting the growing interest in tennis generally.

Congrats to all our players who qualified for the various age groups Nationals as we continue to produce players that are performing excellently at the national level - including a NATIONAL CHAMPION (see highlights below) with fourteen year-old Rachel Kryzak winning the National U16 Championships.Several of our younger players also performed well at the recent U10 Provincials which we hosted at the Burlington Tennis Club, and the Super Series event at Toronto Tennis City.

Greetings!
Doug Burke

ACE STARTS ITS COMPETITTIVE STREAM with the Mini Tennis/Little Aces program - for young players 5 -7 years of age who have already been exposed to the fundamentals of tennis, are able to rally over the net and is ready to dedicate more time to the sport.

In this year-long program, young players commit to further work on their fundamentals to learn how to consistently rally, serve and keep score. The next level in the competittive stream is the Futures program where players generally start to play in  tournaments with the 3/4 court U9 Orange Ball and then progress to U10 Green Ball and finally to U12 Yellow Ball.

So, is your child ready to play Tournaments? Answer these 3 simple questions to find out! 1. Serve - Can they get 50% or more of their serves in? 2. Rally - Can they sustain rallies of 4 shots or more? 3. Score - Do they know how to keep score? If yes to all 3 questions then they are ready to play tournament tennis!

ACE runs over 50 tournaments a year including many Future Stars and Rookie tournaments that are designed to bridge the gap between entry-level tennis and the provincial competitive junior circuit .

PARENTS MEETING
We will host a meeting for parents and coaches in our competitive stream on  Wednesday, October 11th  from  7-8pm  at Toronto Tennis City so that parents can get to know the coaches, our philosophy and goals for the year, and to ask any questions you may have.

BUBBLE UP
Our bubble will be going up from Sept 30th-October 6th. This means that we will not have
access to the courts during this time and will use this time to provide additional fitness training and fitness and tennis education for the players in the competitive stream. Players in the International Team will play tennis at Davisville Tennis Club that week. Please bring your son/daughter to training at their regular times that week as it is an equally important part of their year long training program.
