ErieBEST  Outreach - Aurora Public Schools
Fields of Opportunities:  Career Trek Days for 8th Graders

Rocky Mountain BEST participated in an Outreach event supporting Aurora Public Schools (APS) on September 29 - 30.

2016 Outreach APS
Zillions of 8th graders (well, approximately 2900 over both days) were bused to the APS Conference Center to explore career opportunities.  Between 60 and 85 companies, colleges, nonprofits, and other organizations provided activities and conversations about work opportunities and skills needed for careers in the 21st century.

JoAnne Fry and Lori Lazuk had the 8th graders drive a robot from the 2015 Pay Dirt game (thanks again to DSST Byers!!).  The robot construction, programming, engineering design, and driving skills showed the students that robotics can be an interesting - and fun!-way to use STEM skills. In fact, BEST can help students develop valuable work force skills.

Eight Aurora schools are participating in the 2016 game Bet the Farm.  We hope that more Aurora schools will participate next year!
