Meet Grey

What is your job title and what does the position entail?

I am the Sensor Sales Specialist at ACS. My role is to reach out to new and existing customers and discuss their sensor needs and application. Once an application is found, I work with the customer, account manager, and engineering staff at ACS to find a solution for the application.

How long have you been at ACS?

I started at the beginning of July, so just over 2-months.

What do you like best about working at ACS so far?

My favorite things so far have been the people I have met, and the pups they bring into the office!

Can you tell us a little about your background and how it helps you in this position?

I graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University (that’s always a mouthful) when it was still SPSU, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. These days it is Kennesaw State University. While I was there I learned a small amount about PLC’s, which has made the transition into the industrial internet of things a little easier, but still an exciting challenge with lots to learn.

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?

In my short time at ACS, I have learned about persistence, and the mindset that you have to work hard and work often to make things happen. I have learned that honesty and clarity go a long way with the customer. Finally, I have learned that organization is key [Source: “Richie-ism” 1B, May 2017].

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of ACS?

Outside of ACS I like to be OUTSIDE. Anything I can do outside makes me happy, but my favorite activities are rock climbing, snow skiing, and playing soccer. Rock climbing and playing soccer are easy to do in the south-east, but it has been tough getting my fill of skiing down here! Outside of physical activities, I also enjoy wood working, reading old-west novels, and drawing (even though I’m not any good at it).

What is one thing your customers might find surprising about you?

My age! People always assume I’m at least 5 years younger than I am. I started looking 13 when I was 18, 17 when I was 22, and so on.

Do you have any trips planned soon?

I sure do! I am going on my honeymoon with my fiancé, Carly, at the end of October. We are going to Cancun. I also hope to go skiing, as I do every year, at the beginning of 2018 in Utah, but that isn’t official yet.

What’s your favorite place in or near Atlanta?

I’m not big on cities; I prefer to be camping or somewhere, not surprisingly, outside. With that being said, I love watching the Falcons and Atlanta United play, so I’m excited to check out Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
