MAPCS to Merge
As A Regional
Association Called
NEPCSA

For several years now, the MAPCS Board of Directors has been working on a plan to create a regional association made up of the six New England states.  The MAPCS Board of Directors believes that combining resources will better serve the needs of private career schools and their students throughout New England, while creating a more robust voice for schools locally and regionally.

MAPCS has had preliminary conversations with schools in Connecticut and will soon broaden outreach to Rhode Island, then to New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.
NEPCSA will represent the combined strength of all private career schools in the six New England states.

The new regional association will form an efficient and collaborative group to provide:

  • Legislative and regulatory representation and support;
  • Opportunity to strengthen educational performance and market demand for skilled graduates by providing professional training programs and resources;
  • Enhanced communication to increase awareness of the issues affecting career education;
  • Growth opportunities for educational professionals and leaders, and
  • More efficient administration of membership activities.
To move this initiative forward, the membership at the September 30th Professional Development Conference voted to accept a recommendation for MAPCS to merge into NEPCSA.

Gainful Employment News

During the night of October 19, 2016, the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) generated and sent the "GE Debt Measures Backup Data" detail files to institutionally-designated Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) mailboxes. These detail files contain the draft Gainful Employment (GE) Debt-to-Earnings (D/E) rates for each GE program at the institution as well as the data used to calculate the rates.

 for important details about the distribution of the rates, including information about the upcoming 45-day challenge period and guidance on considering challenges to the data.

The following information pertaining  to the Draft GE Debt-to-earnings (D/E) Rates was provided by Tom Netting, from
Akerman LLP.

As made clear in Electronic Announcement #92 - Upcoming Distribution of Draft Debt-to-Earnings (D/E) Rates, distribution of draft GE D/E Rates will take place this week.
