HURRICANE IRMA RELIEF
HandsOn Broward Helps Rebuild Communities

IT TAKES A VILLAGE
In the aftermath of a disaster, volunteers and donations are critical to response and recovery efforts.  At HandsOn Broward, we're grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who have already activated to meet the needs of our communities.

In the week following Hurricane Irma, our dedicated team has mobilized to support relief efforts in all corners of Broward County:
  • Through our partnership with Broward County Emergency Management, we are distributing water to individuals and families living in cities under a boil water alert;
  • In Wilton Manors, we've helped remove debris from the grounds at Kids in Distress in order to make it safe for kids to return to campus;
  • In Davie, our volunteers are supporting debris removal and cleanup at Flamingo Gardens, where Broward's tallest tree was toppled by Irma;
  • In Coconut Creek, we're cleaning up and making repairs to Tomorrow's Rainbow so that they may continue providing grief support to their young clients;
  • In Sunrise, we are supporting a crisis cleanup at Arc Broward so that they may reestablish services to support the residents living in their group homes; and
  • Our volunteers are at phone banks, making calls to check in on the elderly and disabled throughout Broward who may be living without electricity or air conditioning.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
To activate our response efforts, HandsOn Broward requires supplies, tools and hundreds of staff hours, all while our regular programming is suspended.  A ll of the work that we do following a disaster is not supported by any federal or local funding - it is made possible by donations alone. So, we truly mean it when we say that without your generosity, none of this would be possible.

If you are able to support HandsOn Broward with a donation, your contribution will go a long way to sustain our recovery efforts - as well as our organization - as we suspend normal operations so that we may focus our undivided attention on providing relief to those in need.

No amount is too small.  A donation of just $10 will equip a volunteer with supplies to assist with neighborhood debris removal.  We are grateful for your contribution, whether through volunteer support or a monetary donation. Thank you for helping us to effect positive change in Broward County.
