Vermont Housing Finance Agency's Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced that interested parties are invited to submit comments on how housing tax credits are allocated. Housing tax credits are Vermont's primary funding source for developing affordable rental housing. Housing credits offer investors a multi-year tax credit in return for upfront equity that is used in turn to construct or rehabilitate rental housing. Rental housing developed with funds raised from housing credits must be affordable and occupied by low income households.

The need for affordable rental housing in VT far outweighs the availability of funding. For this reason, the prioritization assigned to various types of projects as stipulated by the QAP is extremely important. Interested parties are encouraged to review the existing QAP and submit comments about any changes needed to ensure that competing applications are prioritized in the way that best serves Vermonters' most pressing needs. Comments should be submitted to Joseph Erdelyi, VHFA's Development Director, by November 1, 2016.

Your Organization may be in need of change, but are your publics?

Whether the change comes from reorganization, an acquisition, merger, downsizing or new strategic direction, there are unique components to a change situation that demand special communication considerations for your employees and external publics, especially those "resistant to change." The Champlain College Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the Yankee Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) are sponsoring a session, "Communicating for Change," to learn the science and strategy behind effective change communications and how to prepare a successful communications plan. Presenter Rosemarie Rung, APR, has over 20 years of experience leading a Fortune 50 company through a variety of change situations and will explain the unique characteristics of change. The breakfast working session is scheduled for November 18th from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at the Center for Communications and Creative Media at Champlain College. Register here.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: THE VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION MemberSpotlight

Since the first group of intrepid nurses took to the streets in 1906, The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties has pioneered home health and hospice care in the Greater Burlington community. From critically ill children and vulnerable families to adults managing chronic illnesses or needing rehabilitation, to compassionate end-of-life care, the VNA has been there every step of the way.

The VNA's dedicated team of nurses, physical therapists, speech and occupational therapists, along with Licensed Nursing Assistants and Personal Care Attendants, employ the latest technology to provide medically-complex care in private homes and other community settings. Shorter hospital stays, Vermont's large aging population and the increased recognition that home is the best place to heal means VNA services are in greater demand than ever before.

The VNA is not only for seniors in the community. People of all ages who experience a sports injury, car accident, elective surgery, manage a chronic health condition or need help caring for aging parents may benefit from VNA programs and services. Visit their website or call us at (802) 658-1900 to learn more.
