Cumberland's first Councillors elected
15 Councillors have been voted in by you as Cumberland's first ever locally elected representatives. Below find details on the three Councillors representing each of the five wards that make up Cumberland.

Councillors will now begin getting acquainted with Cumberland, the many communities that make up the area and the organisation itself through two induction sessions being held
on 20 and 21 September. This will be followed by the Councillor Oath of Office Ceremony on Monday 25 September. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be elected at an Extraordinary Council Meeting in the Merrylands Council Chambers on Wednesday 27 September.
During voting Cumberland residents were also asked a question about the status of pools in Cumberland. A significant majority of voters supported Council in continuing to operate and subsidise all pools in Cumberland. View the full question and poll results by clicking here.

Administration of Cumberland comes to a close
The milestone of Cumberland's first ever elections brings to an end the Administration period of Viv May who was appointed by the NSW Government approximately 16 months ago to oversee the transition, in place of a Mayor and Councillors.
A complete summary of the Administration period has been put together in the Administrator's End of Term Report which outlines the position of the Council when amalgamated, the process of transition, key achievements and an overview of the Council's current position.
Some highlights include:
- More transparent and collaborative planning after the implementation of the Cumberland Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel and the introduction of the online eplanning portal.
- The creation of the Community Strategic Plan based on input from 2,500 locals which sets out the community's priorities for Cumberland.
- Delivered a budget that returns $184.5m to the community and a net surplus of $2.1m for 2017-18 after paying off $4.4m in inherited debt.
- Investing in community infrastructure, including funding the $20m Granville Multi-Purpose Community Centre.

Concept designs released for $20m Granville Multipurpose Community Centre
What are your thoughts?
Granville will be getting an impressive new community facility that will include a Library, Art Gallery and a variety of community spaces. Newly released concept designs have revealed a range of exciting facilities for Granville locals to look forward to including:
- Video, production and recording rooms and equipment
- Dance/rehearsal room
- Education and arts workshop
- Artist studios
- Youth activity space and community hall
- Children's playground, outdoor barbecue area and two multi-use sports courts.
The new purpose built community facility will be located at the Granville Memorial Park site where the existing Granville Youth and Community Recreation Centre currently stands.
Let Council know what you think by visiting next week's community consultation stall or completing this online survey. The feedback will then help determine the final design before construction begins.

Two options on show for the upgrade of Wyatt Park
Have your say
Two Landscape Masterplan options for the upgrade of Wyatt Park, Lidcombe are now available for you to comment on.
Both options are based on the visions and needs identified during the first phase of consultation on the project where Council met with the many community members and organisations that use the facility.
Both plans propose some exciting additions and upgrades such as:
- New playgrounds, skate park and learn to ride bike track
- BBQ and picnic facilities
- Cycle/pedestrian tracks around and throughout the park
- Transitioning some of the netball courts to multipurpose courts
- A new amenities building for Lidcombe Oval
- A maintenance storage facility as part of the Basketball Centre extension
- A new multi-purpose youth/community centre
- Additional car parking
