Chamber Notes September 18, 2017


The 2017 "For the Love of the OBX" (formerly Citizen of the Year), sponsored by First National Bank will be presented. 

As will the other Chamber Awards:             Non-Profit of the Year (sponsored by Outer Banks Days Inn and Days Inn Mariner), Chamber Member of the Year, Chamber Volunteer of the Year and Director of the Year. Join us to recognize your fellow chamber members for all they do in the community.

"Beach Formal" attire (cocktail dresses for the ladies and sports coats for the guys).

The Member Social and Auction was a great success and all who attended had a great time!

Thanks go out to many people for their help. To Pam Anderson (Ocean Sands K-9 Resort), our committee chair, to her husband Paul, to Ashley Misselwitz (Nags Head Storage), to Ray Dewey (Nags Head Golf Links), Talmadge Davis (Outer Banks Beach Rentals and Sales), Helen Parlette (Sleeping In), Dianne Denny (Spring Arbor), Lynn Wall (Peak Resources) for their time and energy. Thanks also to DJ Buster Nunemaker and Auctioneer Ray Turner (East Carolina Radio) for keeping us on track.  Thanks to our food vendors: Argyles Restaurant, Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe, Grand Staff and Stein  Booksellers, Kelly's Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern, Mulligan's Grille and Stripers Bar and Grill. And to all of our members who donated items for the auction itself. We couldn't have done it without you.

The Golf Tournament was also a great success  - a fun time was had by all the players!

Thanks to Jackie Chunn, (Southern Insurance) for her leadership as committee chair, to Patrick Kelly (Nags Head Golf Links), to Ray Dewey (Nags Head Golf Links), to Helen Parlette (Sleeping In), Talmadge Davis (Outer Banks Beach Rentals and Sales), Kathie Nesbitt (Wells Fargo Mortgage), Scott and Melissa DeMassi (CMIT). And to Bob Peele (Wanchese Marine Industrial Park) and Kevin Zorc (Nags Head Fire Department) for volunteering their time as witnesses for the Hole-in-Ones. To Phil Johnson (Pepsi Bottling Ventures) and City Beverage.

The winners of the tournament were the team from Pepsi, 2nd place went to the team from Weatherly Insurance, with 3rd place going to Midgett Insurance. Longest Drive Winners were Judy Hollidy and Ricky Bew. Closest to the Hole were Bobby Cooper and Jeff Bowlin. Congratulations to all!
