Bits and Pieces
September 19, 2017

Time.  A one syllable word, a constant measurement, a seemingly simple concept.  But not really.  In Einstein's Theory of Relativity, it is said  that if we took off in a rocket that traveled at the speed of light, we could land and yet see ourselves taking off.  Not so simple of a theory, and yet fascinating and mathematically plausible.  Now, while that theory can become too much information, what does become relative to us in our daily lives is  that time has a measurement and a value, but is based on what our individual data base is.  For example,  if I'm 15.5 years of age, six months seems like a very long time.  But if I'm 65.5 years old, six months isn't very long at all.  Our data base, our levels of experience at 65.5 are much broader than they were at 15.5.  One more thought here is :  end result.  If, at the end of 6 months something good will happen, that six months will seem to drag out.  But if something bad is going to happen, that same time frame will seem very short.

So how does this relate to SVQ and you?  Well, I'm not exactly sure, but it should go something like this:   Right now, we have the gift of time and we can use it wisely.  All of us here enjoy spending our time with you, to help you get started with a project, to see it to fruition, to share the end result with you.  And you might think, "Well, it's only a quilt", but that quilt can mean many things to many people over time.  I was speaking with our divisional head of Project Linus this morning, and she was so proud to say that Linus just sent 100 quilts to Texas and Fla.  They have taken in, through SVQ as one of the collection points, and sent out over 500 quilts to children and families this month.  Project Linus is a large charity organization, one of many, that uses their time to brighten someone's day or perhaps life.  We never quite know what someone else's data base is, nor how much a simple act of kindness can mean to someone.  We use our time and money to help out.  If you periodically clean out your fabric stash and don't know what to do with it, bring it to SVQ and we will make sure that it gets into the hands of our quilters who make so many charity quilts.  Find a few quilts that you've made and now make you think "What was I thinking???"    When we are able, SVQ donates fabric to these charitable groups also.  What you do and contribute is appreciated!  Someone, somewhere, will love getting it!
