"According to Buddhism, the opportunity of a long life
is due to the merit we have gained in the past.
Even if you are not a Buddhist, think of people who die young
and be joyful that your life has been a long one."
~ His Holiness the Dala Lama

On KC home turf once again after the sounds of bells,
chanting
and the swish of robes. We weathered storms, late nights and early mornings to be in the presence of our inspirational teacher Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Every minute was worth it! Folks from around the world benefited from these amazing practices and teachings for the weekend, the week or even a month. When is the next LOP retreat? We'll have to wait to find out!

Thank you to our teachers,
program assistants, volunteers and all of you who helped keep Kadampa Center running smoothly while many of us were away during LOP. How wonderful to know that everyone is so willing to help to keep our Kadampa family thriving! Great job!

WORDLY WISE
GOOD THINGS TO KNOW
|
|
Enlightenment
(Skt: bodhi; Tib: jang-chub)
Full awakening; buddhahood; omniscience. The ultimate goal of a Mahayana Buddhist, attained when all obscurations have been removed and all the qualities of the mind have been fully actualized. It is a state characterized by perfect compassion, wisdom and power.
