Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Adult & Youth Formation: The Ministry of Hospitality | Becky Johnston
Join us Wednesday night at 6pm in ECW as we dive into our discussion of Biblical Hospitality. This week, we'll welcome the youth to join us- we'll spend time looking through Scripture to discover who hospitality has been laid out for us, and we'll think through what it looks like individually in our own lives.

Are you new to St. Timothy's? Now is a great time for you to join us. Also, we'd love to hear what your experiences have been as you've discovered our church as your home. If you are comfortable sharing some of your story, would you mind reaching out to Becky at  becky@sttimothys.ws? Your comments will be kept confidential- and will help us as we develop our Hospitality Team.

And speaking of Hospitality Team... is this something that sounds like how you would like to serve at St. Tim's? We're looking for a new group of those who are comfortable greeting, welcoming, and helping us dream up how to be a more hospitable church. Email  becky@sttimothys.ws if you are interested.
Formation
Sunday Small Groups
Small Groups are back!

After a summertime break, Sunday morning small groups resume this week during the formation hour, between the 9:00 and 11:00 services. Small Groups are an important step in our parish mission of Adoration, Formation, and Transformation. Adults of all ages and from all walks of life meet regularly throughout year to build deeper relationships with other Christians based on sincere conversations and study. These groups are based on discussions of the weekly Sunday Lessons, prayer for one another, and care for one another.

Why join a Small Group?
• to feel a closer connection to the Sunday lessons
• to feel more connected to St. Timothy’s community
• to feel more comfortable with prayer/prayer requests
• to enjoy adult conversation over a cup of coffee
Sunday small groups meet after the 9:00 service, at approximately 10:15 each Sunday. Locations are:
Gribbin Conference Room: Chris Skarzynski, leader
Gribbin Commons: Lea Thullbery, leader
Drake Hall: Beth Morphis, leader
ECW Hall (starting September 24): James Connolly, leader
All groups are open to all adult parishioners.

Come and see!
Youth to Visit Temple Emanuel
This Sunday, Fr Steve will lead the youth on a mini field trip to Temple Emanuel. This fall, Wednesday night formation for youth will focus on the Old Testament. We will visit Rabbi Mark and tour the Temple to learn more about contemporary Jewish worship, especially the high holy days which are observed this month.
The Confraternity: Spiritual Training for Men
Staring Tuesday, September 19, a bi-weekly gathering of men around food and faith will commence at the Day Resource Center at 633 West Fourth Street (across from Foothills). We will meet, unless otherwise noted, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 12pm.

Contact Fr Steve (frsteve@sttimothys.ws) for more information and to reserve a spot for lunch.

Adoration
From the Choir Loft | Christin Barnhardt
If you or your child is interested in singing in one of St Timothy's choirs, it is still not too late to join us this year. We are still gearing up for the fall and would love for you to join us. Contact me at christin@sttimothys.ws or 336-406-0134 with your interest or questions.

This Sunday, the choir will sing Ralph Vaughan Williams' motet "O taste and see," and we will sing some of the many wonderful hymns in our hymnal. If any of these hymns (or any other hymns in our hymnal) are particularly meaningful for you, I would love for you to share your reflections with me. With your permission, I may print them in our weekly "News & Notices" announcements.

Come down, O Love divine, No. 516
At the name of Jesus, No. 435
Lord, make us servants of your peace, No. 593
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, No. 390

Prelude:
Voluntary Op.5 No.8, John Stanley

The Abraham Project
Greetings from TAP 7.0!

Two weeks into our program, we have some amazing news. WE HAVE ANOTHER INTERN COMING TO JOIN US! In the most surreal and divine turn of events, I got a phone call from a former college student (from our last church's college ministry which we led) who was moving back to Winston in hopes of finding a church home, non-profit work (hopefully in the area of foster children), and needed a place to live. Um.... WHAT? That's EXACTLY what we have "room for" in TAP.

Typically, we do not accept interns from anywhere within the Winston area. However, this year we were floored at what a good fit Michelle was with our current interns. AND, Seven Homes (the site that last year hosted Jemi) was asking over and over if we had another intern to send their way. It truly was a divine connection... and we are thrilled to welcome her to our team. She will move in next weekend (she's currently finishing up a job in Charlotte and getting packed!) and we will introduce her to all of you on 9/24. She will begin work at Seven Homes on 9/25.

Here's a bit about Michelle!
----
Michelle grew up just down the road in Clemmons, NC and made her way to UNC Asheville to study Business and Communications. Since graduating college in 2012, Michelle has spent some time in Uganda at an orphanage and working in a pre-school environment. Most recently she has been working in Charlotte for a mechanical contractor. Her desire for community and to get back to working with children and families led her to the TAP program. She enjoys old movies, painting, and cooking. She's looking forward to spending this year building community and being involved.

Grace and Peace,
Becky Johnston, Program Director
