A Note from Dean Cavalieri

This month featured a tremendous amount of activity that highlighted the many ongoing efforts of our school and student groups to engage, and show our support for, our surrounding communities. We can all take great pride in the efforts of so many of our colleagues to improve the lives of others.

My best,

Commit to Fit 5K and Halloween Fun Run Raises Funds for Camden Youth

The rain and dropping temperatures did not stop more than 50 patrons for the Commit to Fit 5K and Halloween Fun Run on October 22, held on the Glassboro campus. Braving the conditions were many SOM students, as well as their family and friends. Led by Kasarah Ackerman and Nisha Patel, the event was a huge success, with more than $2,000 raised for The Neighborhood Center in Camden. Thanks to the race participants, volunteers, corporate sponsors and contributions from local businesses, the Center will use the funds to help support ongoing programs that benefit Camden youth. FITdocs, an SOM student-run organization, sponsored the race, now in its second year. FITDocs provides medical students with hands-on educational appreciation of exercise, nutrition and healthy lifestyle interventions.
