Join Social Sips for International Coffee Day
Come celebrate International Coffee Day with Social Sips!

The English Conversation Program is partnering with Crimson Cup to host Social Sips on Friday, September 29, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. outside of Enarson Classroom Building.

It's simple.  Grab a hot drink, talk to someone you don't know for five minutes and then do it again. This event is a great opportunity to meet fellow Buckeyes from around the world, the country and the Ohio State campus.

Here are some conversational tips:
  • Be polite - Introduce yourself in the best way possible
  • Be curious - Find and celebrate what you have in common
  • Be pleasant - This isn't a debate, political convention or speed dating
  • Be attentive - Aim for 50/50 sharing with follow-up questions
  • Be friendly - Talk to someone you don't know
Contact Dan Montour with any questions.
Register for the English Conversation Program
The Office of International Affairs' English Conversation Program (ECP) is a fun way to connect with Ohio State students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Each semester, groups of five will meet th roughout the semester to participate in discussions and fun events and activities on campus and around Columbus.

The English Conversation Program is a wonderful opportunity for international students and American students to expand their worldviews, improve their intercultural communication skills and make friends from around the globe.

Students who register for ECP, also have the opportunity to apply to be part of the Language Improvement Track (LIT). LIT is for students who are more interested in developing their English speaking and listening skills, and students who are more interested in teaching language and interpersonal skills.

Registration is now open and will be accepted on a rolling basis. Contact Dan Montour with any questions.
Global Engagement Film Series - Napping Princess
The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host a monthly international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free!

The next film will be, Napping Princess from Japan, which will be shown on Wednesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center.

This anime films tells the story of Kokone, a young girl who is having trouble staying awake while studying for her college entrance exams. As she naps, her strange dreams reveal a land of magic-wielding princesses and machines at war, and she is surprised by occasional hints that her family may be involved. As the dreams continue to grow in intensity, Kokone realizes that there may be stronger connections between her dreams and reality, leading her closer to her family history than ever before.

Napping Princess has all the features of the best anime films, expertly layering its narrative to fuse two worlds that appear separate on the surface. Watch the trailer.

The first 30 students will receive free popcorn and soda! Admission is FREE for students with a BuckID and offered at regular price to the public.
