Charles F. Johnston  1929 - 2016 

Charles F. Johnston,
"Chuck" Johnston, Jr., 86, of Wadsworth passed away Tuesday October 25, 2016.   He was born on December 4, 1929 in Cleveland to the late Charles F. Sr. and Clara Johnston.   Chuck was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Wadsworth being involved on numerous committees and boards.
 
Chuck was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School and The Ohio State University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi.   He received his law degree from The Ohio State University in 1954.   Chuck met his wife, Jan, at the University of Wisconsin in 1952.   They were later married in Madison, Wisconsin in 1955.   In 1957 they moved to Wadsworth where Chuck practiced law for 60 years until he "officially" retired in January 2016.
 
Chuck enjoyed being active in the community being a member of the Wadsworth Moose, Eagles, Gyro, and Lions Club.   Chuck was involved in Lions Club since 1966 serving as past President and Zone President.   He was a Mason for over 50 years, being a member of Wadsworth Lodge #385 F&AM.   His passion for his community continued as he served as City Solicitor and City Council Member for many years.   Chuck wrote the charter for Wadsworth F.I.S.H, and was on the original Wadsworth Rittman Hospital Board.   Chuck loved hitting the golf ball around, catching that giant walleye, skiing down the slopes, and seeing the world, along with being an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Wadsworth Grizzly.
 
Chuck was preceded in death by his sister Eunice Rowe, and brother-in-law Bill Rowe.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Jan with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.   Children: Dale (Sharon) Johnston of Seattle, Washington, Beth (Jim) Cummings of Arlington, Texas and William Johnston of Chicago, Illinois.   Grandchildren: Ryan Cummings, Kate Cummings, and Rachel Johnston along with numerous nieces and nephews.
 
The family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers at Hospice of the Western Reserve for their love and dedication shown to Chuck, along with all the family and friends who have supported us over the past months.
 
The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, November 2 nd at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street, Wadsworth.   A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm Thursday, November 3rd at Trinity United Church of Christ, 215 High Street with Majors Tom and Debbie Grace officiating.   A private burial will be held Friday morning at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, F.I.S.H. or the charity of the donor's choice.
