In one short decade, we have totally changed the way we interact with one another. The millennial generation, the first to be socialized in a digital world, is now feeling the unintended consequences.

CELLING YOUR SOUL
is a powerful and informative examination of how our young people actually feel about connecting in the digital world and their love/hate relationship with technology. It provides empowering strategies for more fulfilling, balanced, and authentic human interaction within the digital landscape.

The film reveals the effects of "digital socialization" by taking viewers on a personal journey with a group of high school and college students who through a digital cleanse discover the power of authentic human connectivity, and that there is "No App" or piece of technology that can ever replace the benefits of human connection.

The screening will be immediately followed by a panel with filmmaker & producer  Joni Siani.  Moderated by The Boston Globe's Janice Page.

THE 15th ANNUAL BOSTON LATINO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL September 28 - October 1, 2017
www.bliff.org

The Boston Latino International Film Festival (BLIFF) is pleased to announce its 15th annual Festival, taking place Thursday, September 28 through Sunday, October 1, 2017. Since its inception in 2002, BLIFF has been committed to using the power of film to break stereotypes, bring cultures and communities together, and reveal the complex issues that affect the Latino community in the United States and Latin America.

This year, in addition to showcasing films by submission, BLIFF will also include many award-winning feature-length films never before screened in Boston. Several of these films were directed and/or written by women.

This year's recurring theme is the power of music and its impact on society and individuals. Also, BLIFF is proud to feature eight films with ties to the New England community. BLIFF will recognize the best submissions in the feature, documentary, and short film categories at the end of the festival. And for the second year in a row, audiences will vote for their favorite film, with the winner announced at the closing reception on October 1.

The Boston International Kids Film Festival invites parents, students and educators from all over the Greater Boston area to a four-day celebration of imagination and creativity!

Filmmakers Collaborative created the Boston International Kids Film Festival in 2013 at a time when the average teen was spending almost 7 hours per day on some form of an electronic device. Our goal in showing films from around the world, all made either for or by kids, is to show teens and tweens that there is more to tech than texting, snapchatting, and instagramming their friends - that making a film can be a powerful way to tell a story, express your emotions, state a point of view while having fun!

We kick off each year's festival with day-long field trips, inviting middle school students from around the Greater Boston area to watch a film, and have an opportunity to meet the filmmakers and ask questions. The young filmmakers that participate in our after-school and summer filmmaking program are given center stage at special blocks throughout the weekend, as we screen the short films that they have created in front of their family and friends.

Our festival also showcases professionally-made films that promise to entertain the entire family while giving the storyteller in each of us something to strive towards.

Combine all that with hands-on workshops on stop-motion animation, special effects, and Gopro movie-making, and you are in for an event that families of Greater Boston will be enjoying for years to come!
