Recovery Updates - Morning Report

FPL:
FPL reports that 80% of customers in Coral Gables have had their power restored. If you don't have power, contact 1-800-4OUTAGE.

Debris Removal:
Ten new super crews and contract trucks (three times larger than city trucks) have joined landscape debris hauling caravan of about 22 city trucks this morning to facilitate debris pick up in Coral Gables.

City crews are on the road collecting and hauling debris. The debris monitoring/processing operation has been underway since Saturday, September 16.  Residents are reminded to place only landscape/vegetative material in debris piles - No plastic bags or non-landscape material, or furniture of any kind, may be placed in debris piles.  If your landscape service is assisting in cutting and clearing on your property, limbs and branches must be cut to 4'-6' lengths so they can be picked up by collection equipment.

Garbage:
Sanitation crews continue working today Sunday to collect any missed areas. Regular garbage collection resumes on Monday. Please be patient if crews missed your home.  Contact the City's hotline at 305-460-5401 for any inquiries. Place your garbage cans or bags in a place that is accessible and visible in order to facilitate garbage collection. Our crews are doing their best to collect garbage citywide. Regular recycling and trash collection has been suspended until further notice.

Beware of Unlicensed Contractors:
Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous individuals marketing themselves as licensed contractors during this time of emergency. Unlicensed activity is a serious threat to the health, safety, and welfare of Residents and Visitors. Unlicensed activity occurs when a person performs or offers to perform a job or service that requires licensure by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) or Miami-Dade County Code Chapter 10 Section 10-4 to include roofing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.  A link to a brochure detailing the importance of hiring a licensed contractor can be found here:  http://www.miamidade.gov/licenses/library/brochures/contracting-without-license.pdf
To verify contractor licensure, check DBPR www.myfloridalicense.com
