Membership renewal
Renewal reminders were sent by USPS last week to all LWVGC members whose renewals are due this fall but not yet received. If you received a notice please renew ASAP to help us continue the important work that League does. You can renew by mailing a check along with the membership form to the address on the form or you can renew online (click here)
Note: You are not up for renewal if you joined the League since January 31, 2016, or if you are a 50-year Lifetime member.
Please, consider including a donation along with your dues. Your donation will help make League membership affordable for others for whom the dues and other costs are a barrier to membership and participation.

Have you got what it takes?
The Nominating Committee is looking for a few great Leaguers! If you're interested in gaining leadership experience while serving LWVGC, we have fantastic opportunities for you. Each year, six two-year board positions are up for election. AND we have leadership positions from chapter officers to board committees that need your talents. Prior experience is not required, just dedication and passion for the League's critical work of Making Democracy Work. Send me your name! Send me your friend's name! Ask me your questions! And thanks for all you do!

Primary election systems study and consensus
Ohio League members need to start thinking about what kind of position we want to have on primary election systems (PES). In the "UPCOMING EVENTS" list below, please note two important dates to this effort. On November 19, Vladimir Kogan, an expert from OSU, will speak about primary election options and on December 3, LWVGC will hold its consensus meeting. See details on times and locations below under "UPCOMING EVENTS." Both events will be held at CCPL branches that are easy to find, equidistant for everybody, and not too far from anybody, so do plan to be there for both! You can start thinking about primaries now by looking up the PES study materials on the LWVO website (click here).

Election schedule
Vote-by-mail (VBM) and early voting are now in progress. For a detailed early voting schedule go to the LWVGC website: click here.
Other important election dates are:
Nov. 5, noon: deadline for VBM ballot applications
Nov. 7: postmark deadline for VBM ballots mailed in the U.S.
Nov. 8: Election Day - polls open 6:30 am to 7:30 pm

West Side Public Policy Forum: Regionalism and the West Shore Communities - Nov. 14
The panel will discuss current initiatives in the delivery of services in Cuyahoga County, explore possibilities for future cooperation, and respond to audience comments and questions.

Relationship between Cleveland Police and the Community - Nov. 15
Cleveland and cities across America say they are reinvesting in community policing as a way to rebuild trust between their police departments and the communities they protect. We take a look at what Cleveland is already doing, where the department is headed and what it's learned in the past two years, which have been among the most eventful in the police department's history.
