OUR NEWEST PANTHERS
We are excited to announce the newest additions to our "Panther Family"!  Please welcome these dedicated individuals when you see them around the campus!

YUKI AGUILAR
My name is Yuki Aguilar, and I am one of the two school psychologists here at Peninsula High. Before coming to PVPUSD, I was a school psychologist at Redondo Union High School for eleven years. My first assignment at PVPUSD was at Miraleste Intermediate School for two years, where I met many of my current students and our fearless leader, Principal Brent Kuykendall.   Coming to Pen and being able to work with high school students again has been a lot of fun! My passion is working with all types of students and their unique needs whether academic, emotional, or behavioral, and supporting them to become successful in whatever path they choose. Thank you for welcoming me into the Panther family!

JULIE ARICO
Julie Arico is taking on a new role at Peninsula High School as Director of the College Career Center. She worked closely with Terri Lewallen in the CCC last year as the Financial Aid and Scholarship Advisor. She is a self-described professional volunteer and actively serves with the PTA, Palos Verdes Assembly, Assisteens of San Pedro South-Bay and Scouting. Previously, Julie worked at Nestle USA, managing advertising for many Nestle products. Julie graduated from Loyola Marymount University, married a RHHS alumni, and is the proud parent of two Peninsula HS Alumni who attend the University of Utah and El Camino Community College. Her youngest is a current Peninsula HS student. She is very excited to continue working at the CCC in her new role.

ABRAHAM BAE
My position is tech support at Peninsula High. I recently graduated from UC Davis and enjoy learning about technology as well as exploring new ideas. I am an alumni of Pen and look forward to working here.

VICKI CROUCIER
My name is Vicki Croucier. I have two little boys in the district and have been an active volunteer at Dapplegray for years. I have an MBA and a lot of life experience, including seven years handling evidence for the FBI. While at the FBI, I worked the Oklahoma City bombing case and believe me, it's not like CSI. I am very excited to be running the Student Store and to be a Panther. Thank you for the warm welcome. If you need anything, please feel free to reach out to me at extension 668.

PATRICK DALEY
I have coached boys' soccer at Peninsula since 2011, but this is my first year as a Physical Education teacher on campus. I could not be happier for this opportunity to be a full-time member of the Panther community. Before Pen, I was a P.E. teacher for Manhattan Beach Unified and Torrance Unified. I grew up in the South Bay, attended South Torrance High, and actually attended Peninsula's prom with my high school sweetheart in 2000. I earned my B.A. from SFSU and my teaching credential from CSUDH. I look forward to getting to know the students, staff, families, and community even more this year. Please say hello if you see me walking the halls.

DEXTER DEFLIN
I'm Dexter Delfin and one of the new computer aides for the school. I provide tech support and supervise the library tech lab. While it is my first year working in PVPUSD, I spent the last 3 ½ years as the computer lab instructor at Naples Bayside Academy in Long Beach. It is an honor to join the Panther family and I look forward to having a wonderful school year with everyone.

MELISSA KLOSE
Melissa Grace Klose is proud to be back not just as an alumna of PVPHS, but as a teacher. She studied Environmental Science at UCLA and received her Master's in Education in 2015. She was previously a chemistry teacher at three different schools in Los Angeles, and has worked with Heal the Bay taking high school students on field trips to the Los Angeles River, where they conducted research and collected data. Melissa spends most of her free time painting, keeping up her artist's website and participating in art shows. On vacation, she enjoys camping, solo backpacking, and volunteering across the world.

ELIZABETH REIKEN
Elizabeth Rieken is our newest counselor and graduated from UCSB with a BA in Political Science. She later received her Master's Degree in school counseling and her PPS Credential from LMU. She has more than nine years of experience as a guidance counselor and college & career counselor at the LAUSD and MBUSD. As a PV native and proud Peninsula High graduate, she is excited to return to the area and develop relationships with students in addition to working with parents to increase students' chances of success in high school and beyond.

NANCY SHAFER
I am so excited to be part of the College and Career Center at Peninsula High.   While I am new to the PVPHS staff, I have been a volunteer at Peninsula High for many years including as the chairman of registration, PTSA president (amongst other PTSA volunteer positions) and a member of the Peninsula Drama Booster board. I have three boys, two of which are Panther Alumni and one who is a current Panther.   My professional background is in the High Tech world where I worked in product development and testing and product training and installation. I also spent many years in the hospitality field. I hope you stop by the College and Career Center and say hello!

They have been extremely successful in the past, winning many awards and recognitions. Mentors of engineering background - i.e. mechanical, electrical - and woodworking background are needed for the school year. Or any interested adult! Mentors will give students advice and suggestions about boat making decisions and engineering practices.
