On Policing, Reconciliation, Black Lives, and the Church’s Role in Society | The Rev. Gayle Fisher-Stewart, Jonathan Serrie, Carolle Perkins | Parish Hall
Join us as we continue our discussion about these complex issues. The Rev. Gayle Fisher-Stewart is an Episcopal priest who in her previous career served for 20 years as a police officer in Baltimore. We will watch a 9-minute video offering her perspective. The Rev. Fisher-Stewart suggests that national discussion has not had an impact, and posits that these discussions at the local level would be more effective. She raises a lot of wonderful questions and invites us to reflect on where we are called to move as Christians. Do we really want to be one people? Are we willing to give up certain rights to protect others? Where is the church in all this? Join facilitators Jonathan Serrie and Carolle Perkins as they lead us in continued conversation and prayer.

Parenting Through Play | Regina Finan | St. Luke Room
Please join parishioner Regina Finan for a 4 session (October 9, 16, 23, 30) parenting support and education group. This is an opportunity to share and process the growing edges and joys of parenting as a manifestation of God’s love. You will also walk away with a better understanding of relevant child development and strategies that incorporate play to help deepen your connection to your children. Mother of Isabella and CJ, Regina is also a doctoral student in counselor education at the University of Georgia. She has education and training in working with children and families.

Kids at Kanuga? A Parent Primer on the Annual Parish Retreat |Wilmer Chapel | Susanna Roberts

Retreat registration forms will be available so you can sign up -- and request a cabin with another family. Bring your questions and join us.

Bible Study | Hamilton Room
The Bible comes alive when we engage it with others. In studying scripture together, we learn from one another – from our various perspectives, experiences and questions. Our faith is not so much about having all the answers, but about asking important questions. Join our EfM leaders as we delve into the Sunday scripture readings. All that is required is a curious mind and a heart willing to engage.

HolidayHouse -Atl Children's Shelter

Holiday House is coming to St Luke's
The Holiday House is an annual Christmas "shopping" event hosted by the Atlanta Children's Shelter (ACS). Because of ongoing renovations at North Avenue Presbyterian Church, where the ACS is housed, we have offered to host this event at St Luke's  from December 12-15. This incredible event gives ACS clients and others the opportunity to "shop" for Christmas gifts for their children from a room full of donated toys and gifts. The event will take place in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (December 13-15) with set up and collection taking place on Monday, December 12.

Click here for detailed information regarding donating and volunteering to help,  including contact information at ACS. You can also contact Kate Kennedy ( katherineokennedy@gmail.com ) with questions.

How often do you have the opportunity to change a life?  By voting YES on Amendment 2, you can help make sure that child trafficking victims in Georgia get the support and services they need to turn a horrific past into a successful future.
