Dr. Ken Saag, Jane Knight Low professor in the UAB Department of Medicine's Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology and director of the CCTS TL1 and KL2 programs, was recently honored as the senior faculty recipient of the 2017 School of Medicine Dean's Excellence Award in Mentorship. Dr. Saag was recognized for outstanding mentorship in investigation, having fostered the growth and care development of more than 50 research trainees and junior faculty in his distinguished career.

CCTS Launches New Mentoring Training
What are the key aspects of the mentor-mentee relationship? Explore the common and not so common challenges in mentoring and being mentored via this 8-week training, led by experienced UAB mentors. Registration requested, walk-ins welcome. Certification available for participants who complete all eight topics. First topic, "Maintaining Effective Communication," opens Friday, Aug. 4.

UAB-HudsonAlpha Genomic Medicine PostDoctoral Training Program Request for Applications
The purpose of this training grant is to recruit postdoctoral trainees from various disciplines and provide mentorship and clinical research training in genomic medicine.
Postdoctoral trainees will receive a monthly stipend, tuition and fees assistance, health insurance and travel funds.
