JEFFERSON STREET REFRESHED!
We would like to thank Holy Angels Parishioner Steve Yontz, owner of Squeaky Peak, for his generous donation to SCCS last week. Steve donated the services of his building cleaning company to spruce up the exterior of the Jefferson Street building and the high school. The buildings received a much needed facelift, removing dirt, moss and stains. Squeaky Peak is a company specializing in commercial and residential exterior cleaning services. PICTURE RETAKE REMINDER
Just a reminder that Thursday, October 27 is picture retake day, as well as 3 year old preschool picture day. Students in grades K-12 need to wear their school uniform for retakes.

EARLY RELEASE DAY-THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3
Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences, Thursday, November 3 will be an early release day. Preschool will release at 1:00pm, and grades K-12 will be dismissed at 1:16pm. Bus transportation and Extended Day will be available for registered students.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Middle and high school teachers will be available to meet with parents for conferences on Thursday, November 3, from 1:45-4:45pm and 5:15-7:15pm in "The Den." The conferences will be held in an open table format to provide parents flexibility for meeting with teachers.
Grades K-5 Parent/Teacher Conferences are held by appointment in classrooms. Letters were sent home to parents this week. Please enter at the Main Entrance, under the blue awning, in the Decatur Street parking lot.
 
K-12 WRESTLING PRESEASON CAMP AND SIGN UP
PRESEASON WRESTLING CAMP
On Sunday, November 6, there will be a Preseason Wrestling Camp held in the St. Mary Wrestling Room. There are two sessions: Beginners from 1-2:30pm and Experienced from 3-5:00pm.  The camp is open to students in grades K-12, and is perfect for anyone wishing to check out the sport. GRADES K-6 WRESTLING REGISTRATION
There will be a meeting on Thursday, November 10, at 6:00pm in the cafeteria for students in grades K-6 and their parents to register for Youth Wrestling. JAMES GALLAGHER '04 OWNER/OPERATOR OF GALLAGHER AVIATION
SMCC alum James Gallagher, class of 2004, has taken his aviation skills to Las Vegas where he owns and operates Gallagher Aviation. James trains aspiring pilots through a comprehensive ground school. The SMCC Swim Team is selling Troyers Amish made pies for Thanksgiving. The deadline to order is Friday, November 11, with pick up in the cafeteria on Tuesday, November 22, from 2:30pm-3:30pm.

PULSERA PROJECT
SMCC senior Lake Lamb has taken on a fundraising initiative called the "Pulsera Project." The Pulsera Project is a nonprofit organization that educates, empowers, and connects Central American artists with students in more than 1,300 U.S. schools through the sale of colorful hand woven bracelets, or "pulseras" in Spanish. Lake will be selling pulseras for $5 and satchels for $10. The sale runs from October 17 through October 31. You may purchase items before and after school, during the high school lunch period, and at the final home Panther football game on Saturday, October 22, at Strobel Field. SMCC CHEERLEADERS BAKE SALE
The SMCC Cheerleaders will be hosting a bake sale at the final Panther Football home game on Saturday, October 22, at Strobel Field. They will be selling cake pops, cookies, and cupcakes. Stop out and support the cheerleaders!

NEW SCHOOL UNIFORM OPTION
There is a new cold weather uniform option available for grades K-12. Students may now wear a fleece vest or quarter zip pullover during the school day, embroidered with the school logo. Both options may only be with this order form.  Sample youth sizes are available to try on at Mrs. Parish's office, and sample adult sizes are located in the Main Hall.

IMMACULATE HEART OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA STATUE
On Thursday, October 27th, the World Apostolate of Fatima is bringing to Sandusky Central Catholic School and St. Mary's Parish, the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady of Fatima Statue. This beautiful Image of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady of Fatima was blessed by Pope Francis in October 2013 for the purpose of spreading the important message of Fatima to the United States. 
It is a message Pope John Paul II said is more important today than ever. All are invited and encouraged to come see this beautiful Statue of Our Lady of Fatima and learn Our Lady's message for obtaining peace and putting an end to abortion and the moral corruption that is afflicting our country today.
 
The statue will be at Sandusky Central Catholic School's All Saints Chapel from 8:00am-3:00pm, and then taken over to St. Mary's Church from 4:00pm-7:00pm, with a closing prayer service from 6:00-7:00pm. 

GIL KROMER MEMORIAL 5K
Saturday, November 12, the Teen Leadership Corps Class is hosting the 2nd annual Gil Kromer Memorial 5K Run/Walk at Osborn Park. Registration begins at 7:30am, with the 5K race at 9:00am and the Mile Fun Run at 10:00am. This race is in memory of Gil Kromer, a former SCCS student, who passed away unexpectedly in October of 2014. All proceeds benefit the Gilbert David Kromer Scholarship Fund, established at SCCS. CALLING ALL K-6 FOOTBALL PLAYERS!
If your child played K-3 Panther flag football, or tackle football in grades 4-6, Coach Wikel and the varsity players would like to invite you to join them on the goal line Saturday night for the pregame National Anthem. Please have your child meet at the victory bell on the northwest side of the stadium by 6:45pm. After the National Anthem, the K-6 players will form a tunnel for the varsity players to run through. See you Saturday night at Strobel Field. Go Panthers!

SAY SOMETHING WEEK
During the week of October 24 - 28, students in grades 6-12 will be taking part in "Say Something Week" at SCCS. We will be discussing how to recognize warning signs, signals, and threats of potential violence, and the importance of taking action by telling a trusted adult. LIFETEEN NEWS
Please join us for our second annual murder mystery dinner, "Alice in Wonderland," where you work together to solve a murder! The dinner will be at Holy Angels Parish Friday, October 28, from 6:30pm-9:00pm. Dinner is soup, salad, pasta, and dessert and will be served as you try to figure out "who dunnit!" MANDATORY SENIOR PARENT MEETING
There will be a mandatory senior parent informational meeting for Kairos on the following dates: Tuesday, October 25 at 12:00pm or Thursday, October 27 at 6:00pm. Parents only need to attend one of the meetings. Meetings will be held at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church Gathering Space and will be no longer than 30 minutes.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship, deadline November 1, 2016
The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation. If you are a democracy-loving high school student interested in a $30,000 college scholarship, or a patriotic middle school student interested in winning $5,000, these scholarships may be for you.

Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Patriot's Pen Scholarship, deadline November 1, 2016
Each year more than 132,000 students in grades 6-8 enter the VFW's Patriot's Pen youth essay contest. The national first-place winner wins $5,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. The first-place winner from each state competes for national awards totaling $54,500, with each first-place state winner receiving a minimum of $500 at the national level. 

The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America's history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300-400 word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.
